The Empire has Royal Guardsmen subjected to intense training on Yinchorr. Even better than the Guardsmen are elite Sovereign Protectors.

The Emperor has genetically enhanced Imperial Sentinels.

They Empire possesses Darktroopers and Shadowtroopers.

How would they compare to seasoned Yuuzhan Vong warriors, some of which are a match even for trained Jedi Knights?

Depends on the darktrooper, Jetpack and Phrik armor, or without jetpack and cheaper armor?

The way mohc's dark troopers moved could have been hard for the vong to keep up with, and given them trouble, maybe.

The later ones that GBG, and rebellion established that didn't have jet packs would have been a bit slow, and probably would have been easy for the vong to destroy.

The DF darktroopers would have whipped the Vong good :D

Yuuzhan Vong warriors are all about close combat. They are in no way prepared for an enemy who shoots missiles at them [face_evil_laugh]
The razor bugs, that are their only longer-range weapon, would bounce right off the phrik armour.

It would be amusing to see a Phase 1 go against a few Yuuzhan Vong warriors. Amphistaff vs Phrik blade. Phase 2 would just fly and launch some rockets. Phase 3 would stand still and have everything bounce off, then use those lovely shoulder-rockets.

Sovereign Protectors and Royal Guards would fare pretty well, using the blasters at range and unleashing the force pike skills in melee. That is, if vibro-technology can cut through Vong armor. (I don't remember if it's been mentioned)

Imperial Sentinels, the speed is a factor. Luke didn't seem to have much trouble "dis-arming" the sentinel on Byss in Dark Empire. Against the Vong, they have the speed advantage. But if the sentinel can slice, then there will be halves of Vong all over the place.

Using the information about crab armor given in Traitor, Force Pikes should be able to cut through vulnerable joints of the Vong armor.

I think a hero of Ancient China could beat a Vong warrior. It's just no one is trained in skills of such. It is part of some weapon training to go for spots like that.

Sabre Fencing could get a Vong maybe... Of course if we all had rocket launchers Vong warriors are toast.

Haha, new thought, how do you think the Master Chief from Halo would fair against a Vong warrior.

A normal human couldn't even get close enough to a Yuuzhan Vong to exploit that sort of weakness.

    lol [face_laugh]

That's exactly what I pictured when the rocket launcher was mentioned!

Master Chief would probably waste 'em.

He would just toss a couple of plasma grenades into the midst of them and break out the assault rifle for good measure.

Or he could just end it all with the rocket launcher. :D

IIRC, magma pebbles are anti-droid weapons, designed to penetrate armor. Presumably they would work against darktrooper armor.

The razor bugs, that are their only longer-range weapon, would bounce right off the phrik armour.

Incorrect. Yuuzhan Vong warriors are equipped with blast bugs (two varieties, IIRC, of varying strengths), plasma eels, and thud bugs (and launchers for them).

Granted, a warrior's armor would most likely not be up to the task of withstanding a darktrooper's various weapons, nor would a subaltern's or even a subcommander's. At the rank of commander or above, I'd say that the darktrooper would be hard-pressed to penetrate the armor, and trying to penetrate a warmaster's armor would be laughable.

Of course, there is a very simple device which would destroy a darktrooper before it could react: singularity mines.

I'm fairly certain that a Concussion Rifle could deal with a Warmaster's armor.

Concussion rifles have to useful habbit of shattering things as opposed to destroying them front-on. So crabshells go crack.

What's your conjecture based upon, Jellywobble?

;) Of course... if this were WOTG, darktroopers would be reduced to scrap in seconds... Yullicks, or perhaps one of my many counters that I developed the second the YVMF got wind of your darktroopers, GAJ.

Honestly, Yomin... tachyons. Need I say more?

EDIT: Darktroopers also have these nice little plasma weapons they use. That could certainly tear through YV armor.

Darktroopers would make short work outta the Vong. They maybe slower, but they can take a beating.

Phrik metal is a rare, expensive mineral, that is supposed to be extremely resistant and strong.

Considering that it is so rare, we have no clue how vong weapons would fare against it. As far as I know phrik has never shown up in an NJO source to see what vong weapons can do or not able to do to it.

"Darktroopers would make short work outta the Vong. They maybe slower, but they can take a beating."

You are referring to the cheaper variety from GBG produced after Mohc's facilities were destroyed? Those were pretty slow, and cheap.

Tachyon's, GAJ? That's a tired excuse... *considers shaping an 'anti-tachyon beast'*

Yomin, what exactly are singularity mines? I don't have the NJO sourcebook.

As for my 'execuses', Aurora has all bases covered.

Didn't Lando supposedly get his hands on some Dark Trooper schematics or data and use it as the basis for the YVH war doirds? While we truely can't use that as proof of how well Dark Troopers would do against the Vong, it does seem to suggest that they'd do fairly well.

Good point GAJ. What are these mystical singularity mines ? I thought you were referring to some sort of space tech

Since GBG slow variety probably doesn't have Phrik armor, it would be a bit easier to destroy.

Mohc's variety of darktroopers on the other hand are extremely fast, and have very good armor. Faster than a vong warrior as far as I can tell, so it could give the vong trouble especially in large numbers.

All of the Vong weapons Yomin Carr has listed are real. Most of them are in Conquest and Star By Star.

Yomin, what exactly are singularity mines? I don't have the NJO sourcebook.

Singularity mines are tiny pebbles, that when broken, create a black hole, which immediately compresses whatever it was near when the black hole was created, into singularity. They were used in SbS to destroy a YVH, who stepped on one, but presumably if thrown with sufficient force, they could be projectile weapons of sorts.
