I'm sure we've all seen this fan film by now: I'm interested in hearing what PT fans think of it. Is this Darth Maul as yout always imagined him? The film-making is most impressive. It seems that Star Wars fans can do just about anything collectively, maybe even create a feature-length Star Wars film. -Tim
Wow! That was incredibly well made for a fan film. Some of the shots are absolutely breathtaking. Not sure if I care for the story or acting however. I also didn't like how they tried to portray Maul as empathetic and remorseful at the end. But overall, the film was very enjoyable. I particularly liked the fight scenes. Excellently choreographed. -Darth Plagueis
So much about Darth Maul is left up to the imagination in TPM. I think what impressed me was the subtleties about him in this fan film. I felt that he thought maybe the killing the girl was somewhat beneath him, but that ultimately he was a slave to Sidious and the dark side. It would be cool to have seen them explore other ideas like this s little more deeply.
It was dope. I prefer the older Darth Maul fan film that looked like a Power Rangers episode from 1996.
There, I've seen it! Technically, it's a well-crafted film, but I find it less than believable that Maul would display any sort of doubt at that point. Sidious would not have deemed that a success. Perhaps it's also a bit overly dramatic, but on the whole, I'm impressed!
I quite liked it actually. It felt like we were seeing the Maul just before he truly became the Darth Maul from TPM that we all know and love. Like there was some vestige of a warriors code to not kill the weak and unarmed, that still remained in him and stayed his hand. I like to think that maybe till then he was just an acolyte or learner. I feel once he struck that girl down, he becomes a complete 100% Sith Lord, even though he is apprenticed to Sidious, but then again who isn't apprenticed to Sidious for their entire life as a Sith?
The quality of films these guys are making now is so impressive. The costumes, action and effects are spot on. With a bit more effort put into the story telling and acting, you're could make a Star Wars movie almost up to spec with the official flicks. -Tim
It was pretty much just a fight scene. A really, really good fight scene but no more than that. Not that that's a criticism!
My word, this was absolutely astounding, better than the fight choreography than in TFA! What on earth are Di$ney and Luca$film doing, when here we have people who can make more enjoyable films than them. WIth al the billions of dollars behind them, Di$ney have taken us all for a ride with that underwhelming peice TFA. I'd suggest the following action plan for Lucasfilm, if they still have any creativity in them: - Di$ney and Luca$film to start talks with the makers of this film, with the view to making it canon in the form of a feature length film set just before the events of TPM. This would justifiably bring back Darth Maul with his own film and be credible in terms of canon. The makers of thsi got it just right as the Jedi did not inform the Council that they discovered Maul. - Liam Neeson and Samuel L. Jackson could still get to play a role in such a film. - Di$ney and Luca$film to meet with the director and bring him in. - Kasdan, Kennedy, Hidalgo, Abrams and the others ot get off their high horses and reach out to these people. Rian Johnson - are you watching?! Di$ney - make it happen!
Watched a few weeks ago, thought it was pretty good. Wish they had more aliens and a bit more story, but overall very good!
That was pretty awesome! Here's the poster for that one: Inspired by "Drew Stuzman", according to the end credits
