After TPM (I think almost as late as being close to AOTC's release) a race of horned humanoids called Iridonians/Zabraks were revealed, but TPM sources identified Darth Maul as being a human who as part of his devotion to the ancient Sith faith tatooed his entire body and had the horns surgically added.

Is he a Zabrak? Or is the TPM data the canon?

He's a Zabrak. Where did it say he was human?

I hope he's not human. I had heard rumors somewhere, although I can't remember where, saying that the Sith were racist and didn't allow any other races to become true Sith. Obviously other races would be just as likely to become Dark Jedi as humans.

I vaguely remember something along those lines. It was in a book about people/places/things in TPM. I can't recall the name.

Maul is a Zabrak, and he will always be a Zabrak. There is loads of EU material that says he is, so I would have to believe that.

Actually, only Maul did that. Eeth Koth is a Zabrak on the Jedi Council in TPM, yet he wasn't covered in tattoos.

Hes HUMANOID not HUMAN. It just means you have the same body structre. Dexter is not Humanoid, Maul is but both are not human.

BTW Eeth Koth did have some tattos on his face not as much as maul tho.

If you play KOTOR II, one of your team characters is a Zabrak. If you turn him to the dark side, he puts tattoos on his face. I guess its a Zabrak Ritual. Eeth Koth is an Iridonian Zabrak, which is a different sub species. The tattoos might not be a ritual for their species.

There's also Agen Kolar in AOTC, and is killed by Sideous in ROTS.

Darth Maul is also an Iridonian Zabrak, so Zabraks most likely only tatoo if they turn away from the light...

Eeth Koth has facial tattoos, and body tattoos.

So it's not just "evil" Iridonians.

Hmmm...I've always known he was a zabrak.I think I first heard about it from some web site a few months after TPM came out.I tried to confirm it,but no one seemed to know for sure. But I still believed it though. And besides isn't Eeth Koth a zabrak as well?He just didn't have the yellow sith eyes and tattoos.
