In the new Star Wars season 3 trailer, we see a ghostly apparition appearing to Ezra just after the scene showing him open the Sith holocron. Here is an image:

Circulating rumours of EU characters being reintroduced to the canon narrative have been confirmed with the revealing of Grand Admiral Thrawn in his original glory. Judging by Filoni's interviews, it appears as if more EU characters will also be canonised: with many speculating Kreia to be the likely candidate. This apparition certainly does look like Darth Traya/Kreia, she has the elderly appearance, straight white hair, the eerie eyes Kreia possessed, and it appears she has same robe as Kreia which reaches her jawline. Here is a comparison image:

Given that Malachor has been canonised and the holochron was also found here, I think it stands a chance that Kreia will be placed into the Star Wars canon and may possibly guide Ezra on her complex set of moral philosophies.

Here are some additional images of the entity seen in the Rebels season 3 trailer:

    Maybe[face_dunno]

Personally I'd prefer Rebels, with all the old characters they bring back, they should create a new ancient Sith Lord. Because it's like Gareth Edwards said in the Rogue One Reel "If you're not bringing something new to the table, what's the point?"

True, and the reason Kreia would fit in so well is because Malachor has already been introduced and felt like an incomplete story to me. Also, Kreia has a unique 'grey' philosophy and her opinions towards the force would open up a new dynamic for Star Wars. I have everything crossed for this one! :D

It's not often we see dialogue as brilliant as this.

I don't see a connection to Traya, but I wont say not possible. I think though Filoni would've gotten back that actress that played the character. I think an original character would be more thoughtful, perhaps Darth Bane's apprentice but the timeline I think they messed up on with the Rule of Two, unless whatever the characters say is just hearsay as Bane's rule did not stretch back thousands of years only a 1,000 or so.

I think that apparition is connected to nightsisters and not Traya (The green magic gives it away and we also see Maul and Ezra are on Dathomir or at least similar kind of forest is seen in the background with "rib-trees" and red mist)- don't even see much similarity there really. But Revan was about to appear in Mortis- trilogy so why not though.

Regarding the timeline of sith lords. I like to think that all throughout Sith history Sith have ALWAYS been about twos. There could have been thousands of Sith masters, each only having one apprentice. It just wasn't until Darth Bane, who came up with the idea of just having the one master and the one apprentice.

That way this sith spirit can go on and on to Ezra about there only being two and still not violate the timeline

I still cannot shake the feeling that that female voice that keeps talking to Ezra will end up being their version of Traya, or at least a Traya-like character.

Exactly this! The female voice, the holocron and Malachor all have to be explained at some point. It feels incomplete. I would be disappointed if Sara Kestelman didn't return, she defined the character of Traya.

Kreia doesn't really fit into this. She wasn't truly a Sith lord and nor did she embrace the dark side; even in her Darth Traya persona. She was neutral. So it wouldn't interfere with the rule of two. If this is truly Traya, then I believe she will guide Ezra and teach him her unique outlook, like she did with the exile.

That would be cool- but I don't think Traya is the green spirit. Also Ventress is a possibility but she may have not had knowledge to do a holocron. Isn't it confirmed that her voice actor has a role or was that wrong info? I think holocron sounds a lot like her at least in the season 2 finale I think it sounded like Asajj.

Ezra and Maul combining the jedi and sith holocrons really points towards this theme of "neutrality" as well as that "Pendulum" character voiced by Tom Baker- so Kreia would fit into it perfectly[face_thinking]

The "Presence" hasn't been named yet, but the interwebz is speculating it being Darth Traya. Someone claimed Filoni said the Holocron voice was a Sith Lord - but I don't recall it.

    IMHO, my bet is Traya.

The voice actor for the "presence" in the Sith Temple is the same actor that played Ventress in the CW. While its possible this presence may be a disembodied Traya, and play a role in the series - that connection is likely separate from anything seen on Dathomir. The beings emerging from the spirit ichor (green mist) appear to be Nightsisters. I'd be surprised if they have the ghost of a female Sith on Dathomir, unless they retcon some Sith / Nightsister origins being one in the same...

Maybe there is just a new Nightsister or Witch villain character we havent seen yet?! We're told over and over that Sith Lords cannot become spirits. I don't really see why Maul would want to resurrect Nightsisters, unless he's looking for an army of the dead or Talzin or attempting to resurrect some long dead Sith Lord by using the waters of Dathomir in conjunction with other things but thats really getting into awkward & bizarre territory. The similarity of the voices is part of the repetitious nature of Star Wars and in particular the Dark Side - and thats why they all share similarities like Maul/The Son and The Son/Sidious and even the same voice cast actors.

I don't think as of now there is a connection between the holocron(s) and whatever the green magik stuff is. How or why would Ventress being the actual voice of a 1,000 or more year old device, makes no sense. If its Nightsister souls somehow attacking them for being male then its really open season and none of them are safe, perhaps something like the Ark of the Convenient from Raiders is going on. But Talzin lost her chance in the physical realm and she died and now is in the spirit realm. If Maul wants to open a portal then what exactly is he unleashing , the Malmourral? Maybe Ventress wants revenge on Maul, ok maybe, but Talzin I doubt would ever let her if Talzin is involved. Ventress may of became one with the Dark Side Dathomirian ichor, her soul was however among the many sisters back on Dathomir not on a galactic scale nor is she unique among them since there was other voices and they all were connected to Dathomor that was like (dark)Force planet which do exist in canon . Talzin is kinda an anomaly and unique right now.

The idea of Traya and Snoke running around at the same time as Maul, Vader and Sidious is a bit too much.

We're getting a little overboard with all these "X character in Rebels" threads. Use this one. ;)
