Darth Vader's Height

How tall is he supposed to be? Over at starwars.com they have him listed as being 6'6" in armour, but Dave Prowse is really 6'7", so is Vader's armour supposed to be shortening?

Anyhow, what's up with the height snaffu? Wouldn't they want Vader to be as large as possible?

 

I would guess it's a rounding error in conversion from metric, because the most canon reference to Vader's height, the one in the ANH novelization, puts him at 2 meters.

 

2 meters puts him at 6'5".

 

The force files that came with the POTJ action figures list him at 2.03 meters.

 

When ANH first came out I heard or read somewhere that Vader was 7'0" tall. I think Lucas changed the idea later on to 6'6".

 

The book "Star Wars: Secrets of Shadows of the Empire" by Mark Cotta Vaz has a character size chart in it as an example of the continuity material in Lucasfilm's library. Here are the heights (in feet and inches) of some of the main characters:
Chewie - 7'6"
Vader - 6'8"
Boba Fett, Stormtrooper, Han Solo - 6'
Ben Kenobi - 5'9"
Luke - 5'8"
C3PO - 5'6"
Leia - 5'
R2 - 3'2"
Yoda - 2'2"

And some of the beasts and other characters:
Wampa - 11'
TaunTaun - 8'
IG-88 - 6'5"
Dengar - 6'
Lando - 5'10"
Zuckuss - 5'8"
Bossk - 5'8"
Lobot - 5'7"

As the book was published in 1996, only the OT is represented.

 

Since you didn't mention Han,I'll chime in with Harrison Fords height,which is 6'1".

In the NEGtC it has Darth Vader's hight is 2.2 meters

And I think in some original notes he was 7 feet tall.
I think a trading card back in the day said he was 6'7".

Whilst it would have been impressive,Mayhew would have bankrupted the film in terms of *asprin* costs alone....

Now,if Richard("Jaws") Keil had played Vader....

Darth Vader is 2 meters tall, plus minus some odd centimeters (depending on how well the helmet fits this day). That makes him taller than me, which is the only reason for me to not like him.
