Wow, well-deserved for Dave! Star Wars is in good hands.

 

Best news I've heard in a while.

 

So who held this position previously?

 

Doug Chiang and John Knoll. Both of whom also still hold the position. Filoni isn't replacing anybody, he's more so joining the ranks. Given the timing of this promotion, it seems to me that it must have happened right around the time The Mandalorian's three spinoff shows were given the green light, since that meant he wound now be (co-)overseeing four live action shows plus everything on the animated side of things.

 

Congrats to him! I may not agree with his vision a lot of the time, but its the best we can hope for at this point.

As I said in another thread I don’t think this promotion is that big of a deal and it won’t signify that much of a change baloney has been speaking and talking directly to Kathleen Kennedy for a very long time I think this role was an official for him for years and now he’s just getting paid for it

 

I am thrilled about Dave Filoni’s promotion and so far I am loving the Bad batch.
