I am writing my next chapter and I can't seem to find ANYWHERE an accurate description of this planet, Carida. I assume it is a lot like Corellia, and I do know that the military used to train there, but this is ALL I know.

Anyone have more info on this planet? Any characters from there originally? It will be a major factor for my fic in the next few chapters and I am, frankly, stumped!

    Thanks!

    Carida:
a large world with a greater than standard gravity and varying climate, Carida was staunchly loyal to the Empire, although it managed to pursuade the New Republic that is was undecided on the matter. Many of the original settlers left the planet because of the strong gravitational force. Some 200 years before the Galactic Civil War, when the Old Republic decided to establish a military academy aimed at training armed forces, Carida gladly stepped up to volunteer. A small community grew up near the site, which grew into a full-fledged town. The town grew to encompass an entire planetary economy which saw its heyday under the control of Furgan. The Empire controlled the planet until Kyp Durron used the Sun Crusher to destroy the system, while he was being influenced by Exar Kun. Later, Leonia Tavira twisted the event and made everyone who listen believe that Kyp had been sent to Carida under orders from the New Republic.

    Carida Engines:
formerly headquartered on Carida, this heavy machine manufacturer was responsible for the production of the MT-AT walker.

    Carida-DavanM-8789753-J7Y5:
this was the designation of the Carida Holonet node assigned to Myrette Davani, during her training at the Carida Academy.

    Caridan:
this star was the central body in the Caridan System.

    Caridan:
this was the native language of the Caridan race.

    Caridan:
native to Carida, this race of squat, barrel-chested humanoids had spindly arms and legs, and were characterized by their wing-like, bushy eyebrows. They had numerous dealings with the Old Republic, especially during the formation of the original military Academies that were later restructured as Imperial Academies. When Emperor Palpatine rose to power, the Caridans were initially happy with the change in government, viewing the Empire as a large customer for their planet's environment. Palaptine's xenophobic leadership didn't sit well with the Caridans, although the Empire was allowed to remain on Carida indefinitely. After the destruction of the planet Carida, only a handful of Caridans remained at large in the galaxy, mainly merchants and a few supporters of the New Republic.

    Caridan Military Academy
this was the name of the military school which was founded on the Spinara Plateau, on the planet Carida, during the height of the Old Republic. Originally founded as a way to shore up the Republic's military after a major battle was over, the Academy evolved as the Republic's own stance on the defense of individual planets changed. The Academy was responsible for the education of the best Planetary Security Forces officers during the last decades of the Old Republic, supplying many planets with security and military officers when the Republic could not fleets or forces to protect a planet. After Emperor Palpatine instituted the New Order, the Academy of Carida was absorbed as a satellite of the Imperial Academy.

    Carida's Blade:
this asteroid field was located in the Caridan System, between the orbital paths of Carida and Cari.

    Carida's Helm:
this ring of frozen debris encircled the entire Caridan System, forming the outermost orbit around the star Caridan.

This may or may not be helpful.

Descriptions from the start of Champions of the Force, before Kyp Durron destroyed the system:

As his next target Kyp would challenge the Imperial military training cenre on Carida.
The military planet was a largish world with high gravity to toughen the muscles of potential Stormtroopers. Its untamed land masses provided an appropriate range of training environments: arctic wastelands, trackless rain forests, splintered mountain crags, and searing desert hardpan crawling with venomous multilegged reptiles.

    ...

Last time Kyp had fired the torpedoes into supergiant stars in a nebula. Carida's sun was an unremarkable yellow sun, but even so the Sun Crusher could ignite a chain reaction within the core....

Although those quotes only talk about Stormtroopers it does seem to be all branches being trained there as Daala (fleet / support...she was in the supply corps before Tarkin) and Han Solo and Soontir Fel (TIE pilots) trained at the Imperial Naval Academy there.
(Plus there were the TIEs being flown by some trainees who tried to shoot down the Sun Crusher)
(Tycho Celchu, Biggs Darklighter, and Derek "Hobbie" Klivan though trained at the Imperial Naval Academy on Prefsbelt IV which was where Soontir Fel taught for a while.)

So thats a large world with a variety of terrain which has a large amount of undeveloped land and whose economy was based around the military academy, and which orbits a single yellow star.

Or its scorched rubble which has been ripped apart by the explosion of its sun. Depends on if it is pre or post Kyp.

I also have a vague memory of a space station which was just on the edge of an expanding sphere of gas that had been thrown off by an exploding sun (hides the space station), but I'm not sure if that was on the edge of the result of the Carida sun, the Cauldron Nebula, or even the Cron Cluster (probably not this one as that was 4000 years earlier, so it would have rather dispersed).
I can't find the book referring to this though and neither can I find a space station that sounds like that in the CUSWE so I could even be wrong about the existence of that station as well as not being able to remember the location.

It has about every climate that you would find, and like they've said it has a larger than norm. gravity.

The Ambassador Furgan scenes of Dark Apprentice are also good. Basically, Carida was the Old Republic's prime military training facility, had a higher than average gravity to toughen you up, and had a diverse range of environments: artic caps, dangerous jungleland, scorching deserts . . . all ideal for stormtrooper education.

And over half a decade after before A New Hope, Solo's fellow Carida recruit blasted the Imperial Seal right off Carida's moon with a bit of antimatter . . .
