Did Captain Needa die?

I was just watching ESB today, and after Captain Needa (I think that's who he is) goes to confess to Vader that he lost the Falcon, Vader Force chokes him, at least to the point where he can no longer stand. After his snide "Apology accepted, Captain." Two Imps come to either dispose of the bodies or help Captain Needa up. I can't imagine Vader would leave Needa alive after killing Ozzel for his failure, but the Imps pick him up by his arms and support him on their shoulders, which is more of a way to assist live people than to carry dead people. Did Vader kill Needa or not? If he didn't, why was Needa not punished lethally when Ozzel was?

Odd, I always thought when Piett said, "Thank you, Lord Vader," that I heard Ozzel was gagging(still alive).

 

This thread is just what I Needa'd on a slow boring day. But Gen. Motti did survive Vader's choking aboard the first Death Star.

They didn't help him up, they grabbed him under his arms and drug his limp body away. He was dead.

For some reason I always feel sorry for him when he dies, I dont know why, maybe because he was a man, and apologized and took responsibility for his actions, so I kinda hoped he lived.

 

Same here. Why would Vader say that he's accepted his apology if he's just killed him? I don't recall him being especially prone to sarcasm.
