    Sorry if already posted

My brother, who is older than me, swears that when we saw ANH in 77 that Luke throws the rope twice before swing with Liea.
I was only 5 but he was 8 so I trust his memory better. You can see in the VHS Luke pulling the rope up, like he had missed the frist time. Did anyone else see this? I can't even find it listed on Deleted scenes over at Tbones site.

Also is the bridge called a Light Bridge? My brother and I always called it that back in the days. Remember calling it the light bridge when we played with the old Death Star playset. However I haven't see it called a light bridge any place else. Did my brother make this up? I always thought the bridge up/closed like a light beam. Kind of like a Saber beam but you could walk on it.

Lots of people seem to remember Luke throwing the rope twice, but many places deny it. I've heard it was in the novel though, but many people who believe to have seen it haven't read the novel.

I believe you, I swear on my first showing of FOTR, Sam was underwater for a LOT longer, and there was two shots of Frodo holding the Ring at the end - one with chain and one without.

I think these edits can vary from print-to-print of film, because I noticed that these changes weren't in later showings of the film.

EDIT: Oh, and I think lightbridge is a made-up term :p

Thanks for the reply. its clear that he did throw it twice. We seem him pull it up. But I guess the question is, if it was showed.

My brother also swear that at the end of Batman that Joke's face was on the money. So maybe he just likes to make up things. LOL

He is pulling it up because it is a LONG rope... it is dragging on the ground because he has probably pulled out like 20-30 feet of it! :)

There was another thread on this that I thought was going to resolve the question once and for all.

I wonder what happened to it.

    ...it sank.

I always thought this subject needed it's own thread anyway, so good job!

That thread sank because a few people said they were going to provide the holy grail; absolute proof that Luke does throw the rope twice... and then failed... to... provide... any... proof.

I think it can never be proved...

But it's amazing how many people seem to remember this second throw, including myself.

Don't forget the car! The car driving in the background! They removed it for the VHS and DVD prints! *pouts*

Yeah I saw the double-rope-throw on my VHS copy taped off CBS TV that I owned back when I was 5 or so. The next time I saw ANH was when the SE came out and I was shocked to see that they had removed the 2nd rope throw (I later learned that the 2nd throw had been missing since the early 80's). I don't like it with one throw, it worked so much better as two throws - ramps up the tension immensely!

Actually, it's the FIRST throw you don't remember.

"Yeah I saw the double-rope-throw on my VHS copy taped off CBS TV that I owned back when I was 5 or so. "

But everyone who had that tape has lost it! Or given it to someone who refuses to release it as evidence!

    *eyeballs NZPoe* o_O

    FirstStarWars is right:

There's evidence in the scene that the failed attempt was at least filmed: There's one shot where Luke is pulling the cable out of the chasm, instead of his belt.

    *raises hand

I was one who posted on the original thread about this. I have 2 copies of ANH that I taped off of tv. I definitely remember seeing, at one time, the 2 throws by Luke, but after viewing both copies of ANH that I have, neither one backs up my memory of this. Sorry, guys.
I know it's out there somewhere...

I clearly remember watching RotJ, and Boussh telling Jabba that if he didn't agree to pay, then his henchmen would be "picking his smelly hide out of every crack in the room."

Of course that never happened in the movie, just the novel and a 45 record and picture book.

Memories are funny like that :D In saying that I've NEVER EVER read the novel of Star Wars, looked at the picture book or listened to any of the radio dramatizations. I've only ever owned 1 x copy of ANH in my life and it was that CBS version which I lost back in 1988. After that I never really watched ANH again till the Special Editions came out and that's where I noticed the change.

The wierdest thing is that my memory if it is so damn clear - i can remember it shot for shot and even the fact that Luke makes a little "HUP!" noise when the grappling hook bounces off the overhanging and the dirty look that Leia gives him :D

But then...it could just all be in my head ;)

I saw SW several times in '77 and he only threw the rope once.

In the novel he throws twice.

In the script in the Art of SW (which is the shooting script, it includes stuff not in the film) he only throws it once.

I have a tape of SW off TV from 1982 and he only throws once.

In the SW storybook he throws twice.

I think people's memories are playing tricks or they're remembering the storybook or novel.

With that LOTR stuff, my brother swears that when we went to Two Towers in the theatre he saw Aragorn's hands move in the scene when he's dead on the stone table and he hasn't been able to find it in the VHS. Maybe there's an omitted easter egg in each film.

I found my old copy of the ANH novel last night and made it a point to see if Luke throws twice. He certainly does.
I guess that is where I remember it from, even though I still can picture it so clearly in my mind. Must be my imagination though; it seems this does not exist on film.

I thought the same when I saw it, so after getting my hands on a copy they are clearly Arwen's hands that move.

I too think that's the case. I have the comic book and I believe Vicky grabs a dollar during the parade noticing it was "fake".
Then again the comic book shows the reporter guy (forgot his name) who was knocked out by Vicky's driving getting unmasked as Batman- Bruce took off his cape/ mask and dissapeared with Vicky looking after him. Then it goes on like in the movie.
