I hadn’t really noticed this on earlier viewings but Johnson makes a point to show Luke exerting tremendous power and then Leia’s health seems to improve and she awakens and says his name.

Did he save his sister twice?

    He definitely woke her.

But it's unclear if he healed her

    Hhmmmm. Interesting theory.

I thought Luk was just reaching out to her since he had cut himself off from the force and missed her after seeing r2's message. He may have been worried and went to confront Rey after connecting with Leia and seeing how dire the situation had become.

I like to think Leia and the force were intertwined. It manifested in her to survive and she used it to recover so she could finish her job in vanquishing the evil of the first order.

I actually noticed this too. I am sure this is actually luke healing her from across the galaxy showing just how powerful he is. because it wasn't just merely him connecting to her, she woke up from a ****** coma!!! I think he force healed her back to enough health to wake up.

That’s how it felt. Johnson makes it clear that Luke is completing a strong power in that moment. The Temple shakes.

No that was all Leah. Luke was too busy learning force teleport from Captain Kirk.

Luke has used Astral projection in the EU for 25 years.

    I'm kidding.

But let's not delve into EU. Shadows of the Empire has a prince living in the sewers that convinces Darth Vader to betray the empire.

I read it as them being twins means they are connected. Like Ben and Rey, two halves of a whole. Luke reconnecting to the force will naturally send him to her. Both 'reawaken' at the same time. We've seen the force physically affect connected people, Anakin and Padme die at the same time. As in their hearts stop, the mechanics then take over Vaders.

I don't believe so that scene was supposed to be Leia's moment, Yoda believed her to be the Chosen One. This was the storygroups opprtunity to show how strong in the Force she actually was.

Hmm, very interesting. I didn’t consider that. At the very least he was telling her ‘I am here’.

I think you’re thinking of the space moment.

I’m referring to the moment when Luke walked up to the meditation spot of the temple at night and closed his eyes and made the whole Temple shake and then we see Leia’s life signs improve on her readout and she wakes up and says “Luke...”

But speaking of the Leia space moment... she’s mentally sensing it and prepares for her Force pull prior. She was ready. The close up is on her prior and she knows it’s coming and isn’t scared.

Its possible Leia was physically ailing after giving up hope that they would be rescued (after also recently being ejected from a starship and barely surviving) I dont think Luke actually used the force to heal her from Ach-To, but him being there gave her the will to push onward rather than giving into death.

I don't think he saved her. And quite frankly I would hate that insinuation. Like -- now she needs him? After he left her?

If Leia could make it this many years in the resistance without her brother why would she need him now to recover? To help the resistance yes but not this. She saved herself with the force and could recover independent of a man.

But I loved that they could communicate and feel each other. Powerful indeed.

Leia felt her brother’s presence for the first time in years and it was enough to awaken her from a coma. Please don’t give the hack Rian Johnson more credit than he deserves.

I'm not sure this would be something to give credit for. It would be rather hokey to have Luke "revitalize" her.

I just took that as Luke reconnecting himself with the Force, and in doing so immediately connecting with Leia. She felt his presence and maybe drew on this somehow to wake herself up from the coma. It's up to interpretation, really.

When did Yoda believe her to be the Chosen One. In ROTJ he said there is another Skywalker that turned out to be Leia but that's not the same as being the Chosen One.

I don't think he healed her.

RJ and KK obviously went out of the way to remind the audience how strong with the Force Leia truly is. I don't see them undercutting Leia's Force related survival by saying Luke was responsible.

Leia was never expected not to wake up. I think the film made it pretty clear that she was saved by her own Force power, and was heading into an eventual recovery. They didn't paint her injury like "Leia survived, but she's probably not going to make it".

This is an easy debate to end, using the film itself. Here are all the lines spoken about Leia's medical status:

As they rush her to the medical quarters:
Medic: Life signs are weak, but she's fighting.

    Before the debriefing:
D'Acy: General Organa, Leia, is unconscious, but recovering. That's the only good news I have.

That's it folks. Leia saved herself, Leia fought for her own life, and long before we got the Leia/Luke Force connection scene, it was made clear that Leia was recovering.

There was literally zero indication in this film that Leia needed healing help from Luke.

Yes, she saved herself through the force, and was recovering, but she was still in a coma, she woke up from the coma at the very time luke connected himself to her. he had to have done something , it is not a coincidence. I mean if Luk ehad not she would have still recovered but it would have taken longer

Leia's recovery was already happening rapidly for someone who should've been dead. The fact that D'Acy provided a positive status update so quickly after Leia's exposure to space suggests that, yes, she absolutely was always going to wake up soon. There was never any tension, any danger, infused in the writing to suggest Leia might not wake up.

The OP asked if Luke "revitalized" Leia and improved her health. The film says the answer is NO. Leia's survival is attributed to her own strength and medical assistance.

Did Luke use the Force to revitalize Leia?

No. It had nothing to do with that. Luke had deliberately cut himself off from the Force for years, and at that moment deliberately chose to reconnect to the Force. As soon as he did, his connection with Leia came awake. It answers the question some people asked after TFA, why Leia couldn't sense Luke through the Force and ask him to come back.
