Amidala was in disguise as her troupe was abducted on Naboo. She stayed "in character" with the Jedi, through the trip to Tatooine.

The decoy did the speaking at the Senate. Did Palpatine, who was ostensibly "on her side," know that it was not actually Amidala speaking there?

For once, did Palpatine not know/control what was going on?

Actually, it was really Padme who did the speaking at the Senate. Sabe went back to her role as a handmaiden.

Padme was the real Queen during Coruscant since she was safe.

    When is Sabe Queen?
    1. When they escape Naboo
    2. When they arrive on Tatooine.
    3. While Padme is in Mos Espa
    4. On the way to Coruscant
    5. When they return to Naboo (Boss Nass Scene, And assault on Theed.)

Palpatine knows everything in the saga except the fact that Vader will turn on him. Lets leave it at that.

Probably he could sense it in the Force. Since you get the impression he'd seen her before.

I think that is kinda stretching it. Think he expected Maul to die? Or what about when he even says, "This is an unexpected move for her, its too agressive." Doesn't sound like someone very omniscient to me.

I don't think that Palps did know about the whole decoy secret weapon otherwise I think he would've given a head's up to Nute Gunray. I don't even think the Jedi knew despite what is said in the script about each of them "looking at the other knowingly" as Padme reveals herself as the true Queen.

So no, I don't think he knew.

And Master_Starwalker, who is this 'Zax' on your sig?

This Zax is Jedi Master Zax Starkiller from one of my fan fics.

Also Palpatine always plans 2 steps ahead so he did have a back up plan just in case Maul was killed

"This is an unexpected move for her, its too agressive."

He is a liar. He is just saying that so the Nemodians will belive the things he says. The Nemodians' do not know about Palpatine being the great that he is. So he says things like that. Hello he knew she would come back he watched her leave.

Do you really think Palpatine expected Maul to survive against two Jedi. Even if he killed them both he would have to escape from Naboo.

Palps knew he would probably not make it but hey he served his purpose. He better give Dooku a call.

"I come to you under the gravest of circumstances..."

That is not Natalie Portman in that scene - no way! It is the other lady.

Hello he knew she would come back he watched her leave.

It was unexpected for her to already have an army assembling near the swamp. It was the head on attack that she was apparently making that was unexpected.

Do you really think Palpatine expected Maul to survive against two Jedi. Even if he killed them both he would have to escape from Naboo.

Did he not almost do it.

Do you think that he expected Anakin to arise out of all of this? Did he sense him coming out of Tatooine with the Jedi? If so why only take interest in him after he destroyed the TF control ship. Face it, the way he saw it at the end of TPM it was an added bonus.

I agree with the poster who said you guys are giving Palpatine way too much credit.

That said, let me answer your question. Or better yet, throw another one back at you. Why would Palpatine care? Did it matter at all?
    No.

Although, as a person at the highest levels of Naboo's government, he probably was in-the-know.

    Happy?

    NO.

Whether it was Padme who personally gave Palpatine the boost that he used to become Emperor, or whether that action was actually taken by a third party, is of critical importance to the saga.

It is as important as any other rhetorical question posed in this Forum.
