I was reading Jedi Apprentice 15 The Death of Hope when I found this paragraph:
"He (Qui-Gon) had never been so at a loss because he had never felt like this before. Only hours ago, he and Tahl had pledged their lives to each other. The emotion and the need had surprised them both. Once they had accepted it, it had felt like the most natural thing in the world. Qui-Gon was astonished to discover that he had found one person who mattered to him more than anything else in the galaxy."
Excuse moi but, the emotion? the NEED? most natural thing in the world?, ummmm.......sounds like they 'pledged' themselves more in a physical way, don't you think so?

My rule: when in doubt, assume that everybody is having sex with everybody.

At the very least, there was probably a little foreplay.

The fact that that's apparently every fan's rule is why I like to take the opposite tack.:p

I'm assuming that Master Yoda only has sex with himself, the little twerp.
It's stunted his growth and he has hairy palms. Poor guy needs a date.
Who's that wasp-faced assassin in the Clone Wars, works for Count D.?
She looks like a nice, wholesome girl...

They may have, but I don't think that was the point... Qui-Gon blew the attachment rigmarole whether they had sex or not. That is why in the world of EU, Qui-Gon would have been the better Master for Anakin Skywalker - he'd been there, done that and could understand.

I actually think Obi-Wan was the best master for Anakin. The only thing that went wrong with Anakin is that he didn't have someone who he could just talk to that wouldn't judge him as a human first, without the Jedi Code coming into it. Thus he feels trapped by it because now he's supposed to be this perfect Jedi when he'd been a slave for the first 9 years of his life. He needs someone to vent too, in canon that was Palpatine, but if Qui-Gon had lived it probably would've been him. Qui-Gon also would've at the first opportunity done something about Shmi instead of just leaving her on Tatooine with no communication between Anakin and her.

It'd be a role that Qui-Gon couldn't take if he was Anakin's master, because instead of the wise grandfather/father figure he'd be if he wasn't, he'd be a person who you spend all your time with.

I'm kind of rambling but my point is that while Qui-Gon would've been a good master for Anakin, he'd have been even better as a replacement of Palpatine's role in canon if he'd have lived. Obi-Wan would still be better because he'd be more effective in tempering Anakin's more impulsive habits.

To answer the original question in a totally humorless way ( :p ) - no, they didn't. They didn't have time to do anything, because the shavit hit the fan only minutes after ;).

I'm not sure that arguing on the side of Anakin repressing his emotions to the point that he couldn't control them and couldn't understand why he felt like the odd one out because of those emotions really served Anakin that well. If Qui-Gon were around to be his Master, there's a much more likely chance that he could have either guided Anakin through the minefield of attachment, or taught him how to deal with his emotions.

In stories in the comics, games, and books we get the sense that Obi-Wan knows something is going on, but since he's unsure how to deal with Anakin, and falls into a brotherly role instead of the role as Master and father-figure, I think that's part of the disservice done to Anakin.

Having a brother in Obi-Wan was great, but Anakin needed a father figure, and that's one that Palpatine fills in place of Qui-Gon.

Yeah but there's a difference between being around someone all the time and seeing someone you hardly ever see and having an outsider give you advice.

    Infinities?
    Who wrote that anyways?

Sounds about as logical as that Traviss crap about Vader caring for Erv Lekauf.

Or maybe Vader wondered what Boba would do...

I'm still in disbelief that an editor would let slide Luke's moronic thoughts about Fett's take on the matter. Awful.
