Did you ever get the feeling Kyle Katarn = Han Solo as a Jedi?

When I first played DF 2 : Jedi Knight, I really got the feeling Kyle was very similar in personality to Han Solo. Then of course, he became a Jedi. Do you think Kyle's character was based off Han for Dark Forces and then later on in DF 2, JK 2 and Jedi Academy he is still very much like what Han would have been like, had he become a Jedi.

There are a few common characteristics too, both Kyle and Han used to be in the Imperial Navy but then quit. Kyle became a Merc and Han a Smuggler, both working independantly of the Republic \ Rebels \ Empire. Han joined the Rebels and fell for Leia, Kyle joined the Rebels \ Republic and fell for Jan, both are good friends with Luke...

 

Difference: Han Solo gets the spotlight. Kyle's done as much if not more, yet no one really hears about it.
