Did you think Anakin was sleazy?

What do you think of some of Anakin's thoughts: "I'd much rather dream about Padme" or that being around her is "intoxicating." Or that Padme shut her drapes because "she didn't like me (Anakin) watching her." Or that she's exactly as Ani remembers her in his dreams. Or that "everything here is soft." Furthermore, Anakin wants to keep their affair a secret. What's this? Does he want to stop in on Padme for a quickie when he's in Naboo and play the Jedi field at other times?

Don't get me wrong, I love the character of Anakin. However, if I were Padme's big brother (and knew he'd said all that), I'm not sure I'd like this here Anakin guy.

Although the pear slicing is pretty smooth.

Not really sleazy, just kinda, pathetic. I mean, whats up with those pick up lines?

 

I actually think that he acted like a pervert when he stroked her back and I think I saw him look down at her body when she was wearing that tight black dress,although I sort of(main/keyword:sort of)don't blame him.

 

I wouldn't call him sleazy, I think he is creepy.

If I was having any luck with a woman like Padme, I would be shouting it from the mountain tops, not hiding it.

I think of a sleazy man as one who sleeps around.

Anakin is kinda creepy, but most of all, I think he's genuine and cute.

 

Vampire-jing, good points! Truth be told, I agree with you. I think Anakin is very honest with his feelings. Maybe a little creepy too. Guys in love are often obsessive and cringe when they look back on the things they did.

Perhaps sleazy was too harsh a term. This thread is meant to be lighthearted and facetious. In fact, when I was his age, I had many of the same thoughts he's expressed (wait a minute, I still do), and he only says these things to the 2 people he's closest to- Obi and Padme. I've found many of his comments hilarious because I can relate in a certain way. Maybe that's why the love story works for me.

 

Sleazy? Yeah, just a little bit. But a liitle bit of sleazy never hurt anyone.

He is aroudn the woman he loves, and dreaming of her would be much better then dreaming of the bad things happeneing to his mother.

Or that she's exactly as Ani remembers her in his dreams. She is the same perosn he remembers her being. Someone who is kind, and so on.

Or that "everything here is soft." Nothing really wrong there.

Jedi can not love. They have to hide it just to be together.

besides he has never been with a girl before he doesnt know how else to act
but he is being a little forward in the movie

I've had luck with women like Padme. You get used to it after awhile.

 

I think he was overconfident. He assumes all the time that she has the same feelings for him as he does for her. When she finally told him that they can't love each other, he finally acted an adult by not bringing it up again. He just seemed a little creepy.

 

He had the male "I own you" attitude I find so annoying. Lot's of teenagers and cultures regard women as property. He's so busy strutting and trying to impress her...
Probablly a large part of why I didn't like AtoC.
(I mean aside from the crappy script, gratuitious CGI, and horrid directing).

 

He wasn't being possessive, he was just in love with her and frustrated that he couldn't be with her because of his obligation to the jedi. Yes a lot of teens are possessive, and I can vouch for that because I've seen it. And if you don't like AOTC, that's fine. But just make sure you get your facts straight before knocking Anakin and comparing him to the immature jockstrap jealous type guys that are a big part of society, because he's not like those guys. He loved Padme and he was possessive of his mother because he wanted to lose the people he cared about. No way connected to a guy ordering around his girlfriend and demanding she only be with him.

Oh and if you don't like AOTC, don't bother going to see Ep3 because I'll bet you a hundred bucks that you'll hate it more.

 

he does give her this sort of creepy/sleazy look when she is packing up to leave and she says she's not comfortable with him looking at her like that. Check out the look he gives her before the wipe to the next scene, it's a little disturbing and, I think, one of his "Vader" looks. (another Vader look being the "I hate them" moment. I know you can't see Vader's eyes but Anakin just screams Darth Vader there.)

I don't think he is sleazy, he is a guy. What else should he do. All guys are like that at his age.

 

Well, I not saying "I hate AotC because Anakin is sleazy/creepy", I'm just point out how I found him creepy. Lighten up, Dath Tate.

 

Here's what I heard from a girl who had just seen AOTC:

"If he weren't so good looking, he'd be quite a perv."

So according to her, good looks excuse his behaviour.

Thus explaining the fact that when a good looking guy does stuff like that, it's appreciated, whereas if an ugly guy did that, it's sexual harassment.

The ugly face all kinds of discrimination both in RL and the SW universe.

Leia killing Jabba? Hate crime. The poor guy just wanted a little affection... he was reaching out in the only way he knew how...

 

I think Anakin is overly hormonal and creepy.

Yes, creepy works well. He certainly has some disturbing stalker-like qualities about himself.
