Discworld Fan Film

Seeing as how we?re starting to accept fan films based on things other than Star Wars, I thought I?d let you guys know about a little project I?m working on.

I?m utterly proud to announce that we?ve gained permission from Terry Pratchett to make a Discworld movie based on his short-story Troll Bridge. It took a lot of motivation and contract signing ? but it looks like we?ll be the first in the world to make a Discworld live action film.

You can?t imagine how happy we are.

For those unfamiliar with the Discworld, it safe to say that it?s somewhat of a parody of other fantasy worlds. (So there is plenty of Lord of the Rings and Conan references and influences.) Expect stunning swordplay, demon-god summoning, a virgin sacrifice that needs a good rescuing, and of course a one-ton stone CG troll.

Sounds interesting. I've always wanted to do something with Larry Niven's Ring World myself, but I don't know how I'd work in the Virgin Sacrifices.

Anyway, best of luck and I really can't wait to see this. Terry Pratchett has been my favorite author for years.

EDIT: WOW! I just checked out your website. Great look for Cohen! Did you use "Last Hero" as a reference at all?

Do you have a projected release date yet?

Suddenly I'm anticipating this much more than Ep III.

I just read Troll Bridge and there's none of the afore mentioned. Is that all going to be added in the flashback to Cohen's childhood? Assuming so, is this flashback taken from another Pratchett source?

 

Yep ? the designs are based on The Last Hero.

And yep ? all added to the flashback to Cohen?s younger years. Except for the troll of course, as he?s in the original story. The flashback isn?t taken from any particular other Pratchett source, but it would be hard to believe this is the case if you didn?t know any better. We?ve made sure to keep very Discworld with this area (think Sourcery or Interesting Times) ? because we know it?s going to be much debated in the fan community.

Although it?s great as is in written form, we?ve added this scene to the film to help the flow and pacing.
