Does anyone know of a way to hide boot zippers? The boots I have for my costume have the big heavy zippers running up the inside. I've thought about possibly painting them, but the pain will rub off and possibly gum up the zippers. Someone else mentioned the stuff used to blue gun barrels. Would this work? I really don't want to alter the actual boots themselves, just hide these freaking zippers.

The only thing I can think to do is to make a couple strips of leather to use as zipper covers. You could then attach them down one side by sewing or riveting them into place. On the other side, you could put snaps or velcro to hold them closed over the zipper(s). You could use the same color leather, or contrasting leather, whatever works best for you and the look you want to achieve.

Of course, the best option of all is just to buy boots that don't have zippers to begin with! ;)

If the boots I picked up had been available without zippers, I'd have gotten them :). I can live with the zippers. No big deal.

Thanks for the advice though. It's much appreciated.
