    Probably their best series, imo.

Gargoyles was indeed awesome. Though, I was a Darkwing Duck fan back in the day.

    Seconding Darkwing Duck.

Duck Tales was good, but when you go back and read the original Don Rosa/Carl Barks stuff it starts to ring a bit hollow.

I can't comment on Gargoyles, but it can't be Darkwing Duck. That show was so lazily written. I do not get the big deal with it.

Conversely DuckTales on the rewatch was far better than I'd thought. Though my official ordering would put Gummi Bears above it, and TaleSpin may or may not be above DuckTales.... depends on which part of DuckTales it is at that seemed to have some ups and downs, but the best of DuckTales would beat out the best of TaleSpin. And somewhere far behind those (although, still above average for a cartoon) would be Darkwing Duck.

I endorse DuckTales, TaleSpin, Gummi Bears, Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers and Gargoyles but Darkwing Duck was terrible.

Oh yeah, Rescue Rangers was probably the one I'm most nostalgic for, but quality wise, it'd be behind the other 3 good ones on my listing.

I did really like Darkwing but Gargoyles had a real knack for cramming a whole lot of drama and tragedy in a 30-minute kids cartoon show. The screen always seems to bleed with Goliath's perpetual suffering. :(

Gargoyles was awesome! Especially the second season.

It had everything! Avalon, King Arthur, Shakespeare, Macbeth myths all over the world, Aliens, Clones, Robots, Cyborgs, Mutates, World War II's Battle of Britain, Vikings, Ghosts, Illuminati, 1920's Gangsters, Mob Wars, etc.

Could be really dark and mature for a kid's show, that's probably why I loved it!

You've really got to set your DVR and watch it, think it still comes on at like 3am on ToonDisney or something :p

But what really broke the suspension of disbelief was a Hispanic detective.

My viewings of Gargoyles as a kid were an incoherent mess, so last year I got the whole series and watched it properly in order. It deserves all the praise you can think of. Well, minus that Chronicles season. Damn you, Disney. I actually got the comics after that, though they're also too unfocused to be really awesome.

TaleSpin was probably my second favourite show as a kid. Probably because it seemed a bit starwarsy, what with the huge fuzzy creature flying in a cool ship, I mean boat, I mean waterplane. Yeah, there were episodes that didn't feature the plane much, weren't there? Yeah, those sucked :p

did the Gargs cartoon ever get a final season/finale that tied everything up...or did it just get canceled? My viewings were sporadic with out of order reruns

The 3rd (sucky) season had a finale where ze humans suddenly really really liked the Gargoyles because they saved a train.

The comics, which go a different canon-route, don't have that, but they grow their little clan by getting everyone from the show together, and Brooklyn time-travelling. No, seriously.

Did anyone else here have that VHS of the Gargoyles 5-episode premiere with the oversized box that came with a board game?

She wasn't Hispanic, she was half Native American and half African-American. I remember her mom was in the episode where they faced the giant Spider trickster in Africa, and her dad was in the one where they faced the Coyote trickster in the American southwest.

The third season isn't considered "canon" since the shows's creators left. So if you view the end of the second season as the finale, then yes it does have a great ending that wraps most things up.

such a great show. and even if the episode sucked [which I never saw one that did], the opening theme was so incredibly boss it didn't matter.

Supposedly, Disney was looking at making a live-action Gargoyles movie, but I think that plan fell through when The Haunted Mansion bombed.

I only have one request for a Gargoyles movie: Keith David and Ed Asner MUST return.

Gargoyles kicked ass for sure. Still, like some on here, Ducktales still has the most nastalgia value for me.

and it had a great theme too.

Gargoyles was indeed epic and didn't have Disney's traditional children are stupid type feel to it. I remember the Burger King toy line being awesome too. They had this Gargoyle that was supposed to change colors with hot water and I loved it.
