Many of the real world's religions, especially a number that feature meditation as a regular part of their doctrine, place certain dietary restrictions upon their followers. The Force is akin to a religion in the STAR WARS Universe, and the Jedi are its key practitioners. Did the Jedi follow any dietary restrictions as part of their practice of the Force? It seemed to me that the Jedi were free to consume whatever nourishment was at hand.

individual spieces might have specific resriction, but they can probale eat whatever they like as long as they stay with in dietary reistrictions for health and its not bad or poisinous for their race.

Well, if Obi-Wan ever actually ate at Dex's Diner, I'd tend to doubt it. I bet eating there would be like injecting 20 ccs of lard directly into your bloodstream.

Absolutley no Jawa Juice is allowed. Obi-Wan keeps telling himself he can stop anytime he wants to, but it's getting out of hand. Anakin, Yoda, Mace, and Padme stage an intervention in Episode III.

Jedi, because of the differentiating species and nationalities, follow dietary instructions based upon the individual species and general restrictions placed by the Jedi Council.

I would imagine, as I do not know for sure, that the Master of a Padawan would oversee the eating habits of his/her Apprentice in order to keep them in shape.

The Jedi Council places restrictions upon food consumption based on the Jedi's internal digestive system, species' compatibility with certain types of food, and on physical attributed levels.

Remember that a Jedi must keep in shape at all times, as required in the Jedi Order to maintain peace with oneself and concentrate on the Force, rather than eating. Also, certain species that are "larger" than others have different patterns and insticts, so these must be brought under control as well.

Also remember that Jedi travel far distances and meet many new and interesting enviroments and cultures. Such is a diverse, omnivorous diet that is different and splended to certain genres.

All in all, the answer to the question is yes, but no, depending on concepts. Their are certain ways to look at it, but most importantly a Jedi must be physically fit and mentally focused: and and over consumption or lack of food does not support either of these key elements in the Jedi lifestyle.

    Hope that helps. :)

They have to eat foods that have a high midichlorian count. More than 1,000 parts per serving.

    ;) :D

Well, I have yet to see a fat Jedi in the films, so I say they are on a diet most of the times.

    batvader: Exactly... ;)

As I previously stated, part of a Jedi's training is to become physically and mentally fit- having a lack or too much of food would cause disruption and unbalance this important field of the Jedi Order.

Yes, the Jedi are a religious order, based on improving the internal and philisophical lives of their fellow Jedi and helping others along is such traditions as being tranquil and staying at peace with oneself.

But because Jedi are "protectors of the Republic" and keepers of the galactic peace, they must not only be mentally prepared for action but also, in time of need or crisis, use physical technique and qualities to calm down a situation.

I thik, they don't have any restirictions per se. Merely excersising self control in what and how much they eat. "Eat to live not live to eat." And yes we do Like, ok LOVE cookies.<VBG>
Their training of body and mind does cause their bodies to burn up more calories then say a regular person. Example: anyone in college can say w/ a fact the mental exersis of studying does make one tired as well as hungry. it does make one burn calories. Physcial excersis makes muscle amss which burns more calories up then fat. Put these two modes of training together and that Jedi'll need more caloric in take then the average joe. They'er physcial and mental athlets. :-D

My order doesn't have many restrictions per se on eating, just to use widsom and self control on what, and how much I eat. My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, so I need to take care fo it so I don't get sick myself. Make sense? Kinda' cool huh?
