Nowadays, Caller ID has made prank phone calls a thing of the past.

However, I would imagine that many of our posters remember a time before this invention, when kids home from school on account of a snow day revelled in calling up bowling alleys and asking if they had ten pound balls.

What were some of your favorites?

    Mine:

Me: Hello, do you have John there?

Them: No, I'm sorry, you have the wrong number.

Me: Then where do you go when you have to pee?

And this was something done even before we had internet, so this was a long time ago:

    "Hello?"

"Hi! You've just won a free toilet seat!"

We had fun with prank calls in college.

Pizza delivery was always done from the lobby, and the delivery places would call to say the pizza was there.

We'd call people's rooms and say, "Did you order a pizza?"

    "No."

"OK." Hang up. Call back a minute later.

    "Did you order a pizza?"

    "No, I told you I didn't."

"OK, sorry." Hang up. Call back a minute later.

"Are you sure you didnt' order a pizza?"

By this time someone is usually screaming obscenities. "No I didn't order a $@&# pizza!"

I once called this guy who had been drunk off his ass at a frat party the night before and said "Hey Jeffy--remember me? Just wanted to say I had a great time with you last night and I hope to repeat the erotic sensual experience another time." Then I played "Me So Horny" by 2LiveCrew. He never knew what hit him. ;)

This one really works well if you know anyone who is homophobic and was stone-cold drunk the night before. Have someone of the same sex call and say, "Thank you for giving me such a wonderful experience last night in the upstairs room after we went to that gay bar."

    :D

Um, no, that's not the same kind of Prince Albert.

Damn, the youth of today just does NOT know what Prince Albert in a can is!

I'm not talking obscene, nasty calls. I mean silly ones.

Hey, calling the bars are the best ones. Think Bart Simpson calling Moe's Tavern.

"I need to speak to a Mr. Meeoff, first name, Jack"

    LOL...I didn't mean you.

    My dad's a funeral director.

Although, when I was little, I made some really nasty phone calls to a kid at my school-I got in so much trouble. But other than that, the silly kind are comedy GOLD!!!

Not a prank call story, but a prank story that kinda fits into this thread:

A then-classmate of mine once went into a book shop and asked them, "Do you have the book 'Wege zur Gelassenheit'?" assuming that there was no book with that title (he just wanted to have some fun with the book shop person). But to his surprise, the book shop person told him, "We don't have it here, but we can order it." In order to not lose face, my classmate then actually bought the book! :D

    A kind of tobacco.

Only nowadays it's not packaged in cans, but in pouches.

I suppose you could ask for Prince Albert in a pouch...

Oh God. I remember when I was in middle school, and one afternoon my friend and I got bored so we looked in the phone book for random people to prank call. We found the name 'Poindexter' and immediately gave them a call. We hung up before we had a chance to answer, but later that night (it was probably around 10 PM) they called us back. My dad got it and I could tell that this Poindexter dude was pretty pissed off. He said that he had just got Caller ID (this was back in 1995) and said that if we ever called him again he'd "take us out". My dad was just playing along so he replied "Where, to McDonald's?"

    Good times.

    AH YES!!! A PRankCalling page.

I am proud to say I am one of the reasons that *69 was created. Back in the early to mid 80's...I might have been little in stature, but man, I was tough...TOUGH on the phone!! There was hardly anything I would not say or do on the phone.

HEre is one of my classics, will get to others after every so many posts.

My best friend Roy calls a random number. THey answer.

    other line "Hello!"

ROy "OH MY GOD...OH MY GOD!! HELP, HELP ME!!! THEY ARE GOING TO KILL ME!!!!"

other line- "Wha...WHat!! What are you talking about!!"

In the mean time, I am shaking the door or phone booth really hard like I am trying to get in.

Roy "These Two Guys, they broke into my house..OH GOD PLEASE..."

At that, I make it sound like I have kicked the door down.

ROy screams out "OH PLEASE NO1!!"

I pull out a cap gun and 'open fire' on Roy 6 times, pick up the phone and say "Sorry Wrong Number" or "This was just a crank call" and hang up.

A few times we really had people going on what we had done, We even did it to the 9-11 system on days where we knew there were a lot police activity going on that day.

Ah the memories!!!!! Good thing that was 20 years ago.
