Story [Doctor Who] Friend or Foe? (Rory, Vastra, Jenny, Str SRR: Vastra/Jenny Spoiler for Once and Future

Timeline: Takes place during the episode "A Good Man Goes To War" between Rory confronting the Cybermen and the time they arrive at Demon's Run.

Also, as mentioned in the subject line, there is Interspecies Romantic Relationship; while the characters are in the story, their relationship doesn't play a large role in the story.

Finally, a generalized spoiler for an upcoming Doctor Who audio. No specifics, but the spoiler is based on the synopsis of that story. The story: Once and Future: The Martian Invasion of Planetoid 50


To say that Rory was unsure about this meeting would be an understatement. The message on the Psychic Paper was clear: I have a message for you regarding your dear beloved. Come alone. P.S. Don't tell the Doctor.

Rory didn't want to keep the Doctor in the dark, but fortunately he wasn't alone. He was accompanied by the Silurian Vastra and her human spouse, Jenny, along with the Sontaran Strax. While Rory trusted the other two easily enough, Strax's bloodthirst disturbed him. Still, if the Doctor trusted him, then Rory would.

"We may have an hour before the Doctor returns," Vastra warned Rory.

"Then let's hope this messenger shows up," Rory replied.

"And if they don't, we'll use their…" Strax began.

"Don't finish that sentence," Jenny warned, brandishing her sword. The Sontaran fell silent.

Rory held up a hand to indicate they should be quiet. Soft footsteps sounded in the distance, gradually growing louder. He soon saw a female, dark hair, dressed in either Victorian or Edwardian era clothing. He suspected this was their contact.

"About time you got here," the woman said, her eyes narrowed at Rory. "I was about to leave. I trust you didn't tell the Doctor."

"No, we didn't. He doesn't even know we're here," Vastra said. Unlike Jenny, she didn't have any weapons drawn yet.

"Good, because it's too early in his timeline to know me," the woman said, satisfied.

"So he knows you later. Who are you?" Rory asked.

The woman grinned. "As River Song would say, spoilers. Here's the message, Rory Williams: Amelia is on Demon's Run."

Vastra frowned. She hadn't heard of Demon's Run, but that wasn't surprising since this wasn't her native century. "How heavily guarded is it?"

"Very. In fact, it may be a trap."

Rory narrowed his eyes. "How do you know?"

The woman smirked. "I'm an expert on traps. Now, I don't know the nature of the trap, but make sure you bring plenty of help."

"The Doctor is recruiting help," Jenny assured her.

"Good. Now, good luck," the woman said, turning away.

"Wait! What's your name?"

She stopped and turned back to face Rory. "If you promise not to tell the Doctor, I'll tell you. My name's Missy."

Vastra cursed. "Missy, but…"

"We promise," Rory said.

Missy smirked and then vanished into the darkness.

"Who's this Missy?"

Vastra snarled. "Trouble, but we may have to trust her information."

"How do you know her?"

"It's a long and complicated story, and we don't have time to tell it, Rory. Your wife awaits," Vastra replied firmly.

Missy watched the trio leave. That was too close. She had encountered the lizard woman, her human lover and the potato before, and had hoped they wouldn't remember her. Vastra had, once Missy had said her name. Well, maybe they would forget. After all, the Doctor wasn't supposed to properly know who he was…until he got those famous eyebrows of his.

"You owe me, Doctor," Missy said to herself as she made her way back to her TARDIS.
