When watching the Slave 1, Obi Wan space fight i always dislike how FAST the Slave 1's blaster shoots. (and the sound for that matter)

Its freaking crazy. And the blaster seems to follow Obis ship too. When Obi was moving form side to side the blaster was moving his direction even though the slave 1 wasn't facing Obi's ship.

And when the shots were fired they seemed to stop right around obis ship. Wouldn't they either HIT his ship or pass his ship?

They couldn't of hit him cuz if all those shots hit him he'd be dead. And if he missed wouldn't those shots just keep going instead of stoping right around obis ship?

i'm probly not explaining this right, but oo well.

EDIT: i just went back and checked what i wrote. WOW i can't spell worth *****

The reason the blasts stop around Obi-Wan's fighter is because there is a deflector shield.

The Falcon gets hit in a similar way in the OT a few times.

    Yeah,
The reason the lasers follow his ship has to be cuz they are computer targeted. But some of them DO miss, and hit asteroids.

I think they are "weak" lasers, in comparison to other lasers. They track Obi's ship. But if you look, theyre different than the Slave 1's lasers at the bottom of the ship. Theyre not Slave 1's "normal" lasers. Those arent the ones shooting. The blasters shooting in that scene are in the middle of Slave 1.

Plus, all those teeny tiny explosions youre seeing ("the lasers stopping around his ship") are hitting the shields. Thats what you see, but towards the end, they stop making the little explosions and actually hit the ship. This makes a different sound. Thats when you see blast marks form on Obis ship. Thats also when Boba says, "We got him!"

I love the way it fires its lasers, awesome, I remeber I held my breath that whole sequence when I saw it for the first time..and the sounds, the sounds are so freaking crazy...

One of my favorite scenes in the entire movie...

Come on, I know its your opinion but the lasers do look great fireing at that speed...

Remember, smaller and faster means less powerful! Ok, not always...but look at the turbo lasers. Real powerful, large, but slow to fire.

I think Slave I's gun's are pretty sweet. We finally got to see it in action. However, the reason it wasn't hitting the ship was because of little asteroids I always thought. I didn't think a single fighter would have it's own deflector shield.

It did end up having the hyper space ring around it, so maybe the starfighter had some sort of weaponry I am unaware of.

I like how it the blasters shoot fast because bounty hunters would need more rapid fire blasters on their ships when chasing their quarries.

The rapid fire and high speed chase added to the frenzied nature of the asteroid chase. Somehow though, I feel that slower fire and more deliberate, slower flying would have made the chase more dramatic and in some way more believable. At times it felt video gamish. (is that a word) In the end though it doesn't matter because of the seismic charges........beautiful.

My problem with this scene is not so much that it doesn't "look" cool, cuz it does. But the thing that bothers me is that obi wan's ship is like 30ft away from the slave one and Jango (who's suppose to be the best bounty hunter) is made to look like a really bad aimer if he can't hit obi's ship enough to destroy it.

In ANH when luke and Han were fighting off the tie fighters everytime luke or han hit a tie fighter that was it. U hit the [edited] it blows up. There are exceptions some times like in wedges case in the trench run where he got hit, but he still servived.

Heck even the whole trench run. When vader was killing off one X-wing after another he'd only shot a few times and thats it the ship was destroyed.

Why didn't the Xwings have shields like obi wans ship. They are suppose to be NEW ships since the OT is after the PT.

Cuz i know in the Jango, Obi wan chase that Jango makes contact with obi's ship ALOT of times. he probly hit him 50x's (but they were weak hits i guess)

I think if Jango shot less times, but with a stronger blaster then it would make him look like a more dangerious bounty hunter. Anyone just fire a rapid blaster and sooner or later make contact.

BUT other then the rapid fire i dont like the fact that they are fighting in a astroid field. I believe that obi wan can do it cuz the force guides him, but Jango didn't even think twice about flying into it.

Han was so focused when he flew in it. Looking everywhere making sure he didn't make any wrong turns, but yet jango keeps laughing when he's in there "I think we got him son (something like that)"

Sorry for complaining about this scene. I've NEVER said anything bad about any of the movies. I've defended TPM so many times. and AOTC. AOTC is such a good movie. I just kinda found that scene somewhat annoying

OOOOO but i loved those bombs the slave 1 had. The first time i saw the movie in the theater i was SOOO freaked out on how cool the bomb sound was. It reminded me of a Nuke bomb. where u see the big bright flash first with no sound, then BAM! the sound comes...............ok i'm going off topic. how'd i get here? :)

Actually, what bothers me is that the Jedi fighter is smaller than the other SW fighters, yet it can take multiple laser hits and still fly, while in the other SW films, fighters blow up with only one or two laser hits. The only explanation would be that the Slave 1 lasers are weak, after all, it take alot of hits from the Millenium Falcon's quad guns to blow up TIE Fighters, and they have no shields.

If something is smaller, then I would think that a shield generator would be proportionatly stronger than if the same shield generator were in a different vehicle, since it has less area to cover.

Well, the Millenium Falcon is bigger than an X-Wing, yet it can take alot more punishment.

I think the Millenium Falcon is "slightly modified" and probably has a stronger shield than a X-Wing.
