For those who don't know 'I'm referring to the Jabba's palace song put into ROTJ in the 1997 Special Editions.

I have to say I hate it, and i don't know anyone else who likes it. IMO particuarly bad is that CGI Sy Snootles with her lips up close to the camera.

But that's me, does anyone think its an enhancement???

To be honest it's not that bad, but it's not necessary and something George Lucas can't claim was his original vision.

Overall, the CG wasn't too bad for it's time (except maybe Yawzuh or whatever) and the song isn't bad either (just too contemporary sounding).

I actually don't mind it to much but as you mentioned the only bit that aggrivates me is when Snootles goes right up to the camera.

Love the edition of the three singers especially when Boba flicks her chin!

    Cool!

It's short, that's good. If we could at least hum along with it.

Is it true Elton John wrote it?

    Ever seen Metropolis (1927)?

I think GL is going for a seedy, dank concert scene that illustrates the appetite of the common, hedonistic masses (sex, music, alcohol and VORE). It's similar to the House of Blue Leaves in Kill Bill. The sequence serves as contrast against the more noble and elevated mission of the protagonists.

I don't care for it. I don't need to see a music video in a Star Wars movie. It just isn't right.

To be honest it's not that bad, but it's not necessary and something George Lucas can't claim was his original vision.

Actually it was. He stated back in a 1983 behind the scenes special that he thought it would be funny to put a musical scene in a SW movie. The reason he re-did it was that he wasn't happy w/the puppets performance, which by the way, is pretty crappy.

I like both scenes, Jedi Rocks and the original.

I like the cg in the new scene but I like the music better in the original. If they had simply replaced the puppets with CG and kept the original song, I would've been perfectly happy with it.

As it is, I'm not thrilled with it but I can live with it.

Hated it. Didn't ruin the movie for me, but I hated it. I'm so glad that I have the pre-SE OT on VHS.

I don't get why people don't like this sequence. I think the Max Rebo band are great. People complain about them being over the top. THEY'RE A POP GROUP! Name me one in real life that isn't! Have you seen the recent MTV video awards? I think they balance the high class ballet that will be watched by Palpatine in RotS.

I like it more than the original, where you can almost see the puppet strings.

I like it, but a rock/blues song just doesn't fit in with the rest of Star Wars. By itself, it's great!

I don't love it, but I don't hate it. It's such a minor segment of the series that I could care less regardless of what was put there.

I have to admit, though, it is catchy, at least to me.

I LOVE it. I feel the CGI characters look much better. I also find it to be a better song than the O-OT one.

Blues/rock goes with Star Wars like toothpaste goes with orange juice.

Yeah he always wanted to do a musical piece in Star Wars, same as his buddy Spielberg wanted one (opening of Temple of Doom).

I'm not a huge fan of Jedi Rocks.
But I can think of at least 3 ways in which it's better than Lapti Nek...

1). More Oola. Femi Taylor was re-hired and got to do some more dancing/Rancor pit stuff.

    2). The dancing girls ;)

3). Sy Snootles not looking like a chicken with only one working leg.

I think the scene is better that Lapti Nek, but I think Lucas could trim the opening harmonica solo bit before the song actually kicks in. The harmonica frog is a little too Fraggle Rock for me.

doesnt really matter to me either way. its not like my favorite part of the whole saga or anything, but i certainly think there are more annoying things to be found in ROTJ.
