I have a Return of the Jedi poster that I think is hard to find. I've searched google and yahoo for info on it and came up with nothing.

If you can either post a pic or find it online to link to I can look it up in one of my Collecting books.

I can't seem to figure out how to post a link or put the picture in this post, so if you can give me your e-mail address I'll send a picture to you.

You need to have the pic online to post a link or an image. If you don't have web space, you can create an account at one of the free hosting sites that are listed in our Online Resources thread (Imageshack and Photobucket are two well-known ones). Once you have a pic online you can either use the link button on the format bar above the message entry area or code the link as follows: (note - replace the { by [ and the } by ] for the actual link):
    {link=picture.url}link name{/link}.

If you have an original Revenge of the Jedi poster you can get several hundred bucks on Ebay. I was bidding on one that went over 350.00. Needless to say, I backed off and bought a reprint for 30 bucks.

No, this baby is some psychedelic poster from - I would guess the mid-to-late '90s. I want to know if there is one for each of the original trilogy films.

My collecting books list 7 At-A-Glance posters but they don't have any pics. All are valued at $6 US each. The ones listed are: Anakin, Darth Maul, JarJar, Jedi Battle, Pod Race, Queen Amidala, Space Battle. Sounds like they are all TPM to me.

All my searches turned up only TPM posters made by that company.

Not the droids, er posters, you're looking for

They have those above availible on ebay. You'll have to check-mark title & description to find them. They averaged about $3-6.

Sorry, no Luke & Leia that I could find. :(

It might have been an ad for something. Maybe the DVDs, or VHS tapes?

The fine print at the bottom of the poster reads: At-A-Glance 1823 Return of the Jedi 1999 The AT-A-Glance Group, a division of Cullman Ventures, Inc., Indianapolis IN 46278 Made in the U.S.A. Lucasfilm Ltd. & TM. All rights reserved. Used under authorization.

That all seems normal for a poster. Is it common to find an unlisted poster?

It could very well be in one of my books. However, A Universe of Star Wars Collectibles lists quite a few posters but doesn't have many pics and it doesn't list them by company (or even identify the company for most) so I can't tell if yours is in there. Also it only lists items that were readily available in the US. And both editions 2 & 3 of Super Collectors Wishbook only list the TPM posters under the At-A-Glance company heading. Neither edition has pics of them. I did check the Wishbook editions under Advertising as well but didn't see anything there. Perhaps that poster was done as a promo with a magazine or something like that. You could try writing to Steve Sansweet's Insider column to see if you get an answer. You can email it in to
scouting@insider.starwars.com. You have to put your full name and the town/city you live in somewhere in the email. Include a link to the pic with it. You might want to try and put a better pic up if you decide to do this.
Also there is a new SW Poster book out. If you see it in a local bookstore you might want to take a look through it to see if the poster is in there. You can see it
here on Amazon. I don't have this - if I did I'd take a look for you.

Writing Sansweet is prob. a good idea. You might want to include the overall size of the poster in your description.

With the sheer volume of commercial posters released and the numerous licensees that produce posters, an unlisted poster is probably not that uncommon.

The lot number (1823) falls somewhat in line after the TPM posters LAJ listed:

    1801: SW - Queen Amidala
    1810: SW - Space Battle
    1811: SW - Jedi Battle
    1803: SW - Anakin Vertical
    1809: SW - Pod Race
    1800: SW - Darth Maul
    1802: SW - Jar Jar

If At-A-Glance also produced posters for the other films, ROTJ being in the 1820's seems feasible. It seems you have a pretty cool commercial poster that maybe a lot of people did not pick up. I'm expecting my "Poster Book" to arrive from Amazon sometime this week and I'll check the guide in the back to see if there's a mention of it.

Thanks for your help everyone. I'll give Steve a try. I love how this poster looks. I have wondered what the others look like, but finding its cousins seems like it might be a hard task. I bought this poster at some shop in the Mall of America (the biggest shopping mall in the U.S.) located in Minneapolis, MN. It looked a lot like a Return of the Jedi poster I had recieved as a child, one that came with the R2-D2 action figure. I had made my mom throw that poster out because the picture of Yoda on it scared me too much. I never forgave myself. Oh well, I have this now and it seems to be a real item of intrest. I'll let you know if I find any thing out about this.

Well I got my SW Poster Book today [face_dancing] ! Woo-hoo! Your poster was listed in the Commercial Posters guide. Apparently At-A-Glance put out 14 posters in 1999, all but two were for TPM. One was yours described as "Luke and Leia on barge; scenes on right side" and another was for ANH described as "Luke on X-wing cockpit ladder; scenes on right side." Apparently they did not do one for ESB. So I guess the ANH one is the only other one that will look similar to the one you have.

On their 10-star rating scale, your poster is rated with 3-stars, which is pretty much on par with all the other At-A-Glance posters. There were two AAG posters that rated 6 stars, one being a Darth Maul black-light poster (22x33) and a Darth Maul door poster (23x71). The star ratings are fairly subjective, so take from that what you will. In the example they used in the book, they gave the TPM theater poster from Hungary 3 stars saying it was a rare and beautiful poster, but not highly sought after. Throughout the guide, most commercial posters from companies like At-A-Glance, Factors, Trends, Western Graphics, and other mass printers all held around 3 stars.

If you want to see the full list of all the At-A-Glance posters, let me know and I'll list them for you. The only AAG poster that has a picture in the book is the Darth Maul black-light poster. None of the others were pictured.

But like you said, you have a great poster that you really like and reminds you of something from your childhood memories of Star Wars. That's worth more than any star-rating.

If all of these came out around the same time, I am surprised that my books listed the TPM ones and not the other two. Does your book say if these were special premiums or giveaways or anything like that?

No, they're just listed as commercial releases. Posters that are listed as giveaways and premiums have the associated products (Pepsi, Taco Bell, Frito-Lay, etc.) listed with the posters under the Publisher information. These have nothing like that. The part I found weird was that they didn't do an ESB poster, but did the other two movies. When I read the description information for the TPM posters, I completely remember a lot of these posters now, though I didn't ever get any of them.

I have a poster question also, I've got a Ralph McQuarrie Art poster from 1997, the only place I've found it was on ebay, but it seems too remote of a poster for anyone to notice. It's the one that has Luke with a white lightsaber facing Vader with a blue lightsaber.

    Picture from Ebay:

That poster is a commercial release from 1996 by Portal. (If yours has '97 on it, it may be a second print run). It's one of the first 5 production paintings McQuarrie did and the debut of Vader and his "laser sword," originally from his Star Wars Portfolio. It has a "3 star" rating in the SW Poster Book (seems to be common with most commercial posters after '95).

I've got the original Portfolio with that pic in it. In the Portfolio it is on a white background, however. I think I like the black better.
