I always thought Bossk was on Jabba's Sail Barge when it blew, and you can actually see him in the background in one or more frames.

Other websites say there is no record of his death and that he appeared in Empire only.

Can any one shed some light?

    Thanks.

    Huge Bossk Fan...

Bossk hasn't died in any EU.

Some production photos show him aboard the skiff, so he would have been blown to pieces like Jabba and the rest of his crew. Dengar is shown at the palace, but I don't know if he's shown aboard the skiff.

EU does have Bossk living well into the New Jedi Order era. But that's just EU. ;)

EU also has Dengar living past that - he saves Boba Fett in the Bounty Hunter Wars trilogy.
Bossk has a brief appearance in one of the early NJO books - I forget which one though.

I think I remember reading somewhere that it was planned to show his death onboard the barge. Funny though, isn't it, that vary few major of secondary characters are killed in ROTJ.

The same head was used in all three films; in the ANH Cantina the creature was called "Croc" or "Saurin"; in ESB, of course, the head was repainted and renamed; and in ROTJ that same character appears briefly. But IIRC he can be seen only in Jabba's court, and not on the skiff, which would mean he did not perish when that vehicle exploded.

In Agents of Chaos I: Hero's Trial, Han Solo encounters Bossk of the Jubilee Wheel of Ord Mantell, proving he didn't die in ROTJ. I can find the exerpt if you'd like. There has been no contradiction of his survival in the movies, so I'm pretty sure he really didn't die in ROTJ.

Thanks. That makes sense. Next time I watch ROTJ I'll watch closer.

I should clarify by saying that in ESB the head was not only repainted, but set onto an entirely new body and suit to create our beloved Reptile-in-Beige. :-B

If someone could post with a definitive answer as to which scene in ROTJ Bossk appears, that would be helpful. I'm fairly certain it was Jabba's court, but not 100%. Anyone??

According to the official site production photos show that Bossk was present both in Jabba's Palace and on the Sail Barge. They do say that he is very hard to spot in the film though. It also doesn't say whether he dies. I'm guessing that he did considering all that was left of the Sail Barge.

I also didn't realise before now that he wears the same suit as the astronaut guy from the Cantina in ANH.

The Behind the Scenes section of his character profile also shows a pic which looks like Bossk on the Sail Barge (Check out the window behind him. Definitly the barge).

Yeah, he was definately on the skiff, and I didn't see any escape skiffs, so he got wasted.

    http://www.starwars.com/databank/character/bossk/?id=bts

He sure is ugly up close. There's a Bossk lookalive in the ANH cantina, I think he has on a different flighsuit, though. I don't know if he's supposed to be the same species or not. Either way, they reused lots of stuff back then, like IG-88's head, etc.

Dengar dies twice in the EU. Wow! Not bad for a background mute.

    Once in Dark Force rising.

I'm pretty sure that's a different Dengar. I seem to remember the image of his ID-card from the comic adaptation. Dengar Roth was his name, I believe.

    That's stretching, it's a continuity error, plain & simple! o_O

It was Dengar Roth, I'm pretty sure. And I don't think his description was even close to ESB/ROTJ Dengar.

Well, that settles that! Although I can personally attest that Bossk is briefly visible on-screen in the Palace, whereas I've never seen him on the Barge. Either way, the production photos prove he was there. Unless he can regrow his limbs (like certain reptiles, hmmm....) I'd side with those who contend Bossk bit the big one in ROTJ.

As to the flight suit, I'm suddenly inspired to speculate that the creature with the same head, called "Croc" on the set of the original STAR WARS and labelled "Saurin" during storage at ILM, killed the human Astronaut and stole his suit... thereby becoming the notorious bounty hunter, Bossk!!!

Dark Force Rising at the very least established that the ID that "Dengar Roth" carried with him was forged.

The Dark Force Rising Sourcebook has a picture of the confrontation between Mara and Dengar Roth. Dengar Roth has a number of scars, one of which matches up with the one below the eye that Dengar has in ESB. He also has what appear to be cybernetic implants in his skull (he isn't wearing bandages or the armor that Dengar wears in ESB.

The Dark Force Rising comic adaptation also includes the confrontation between Mara and "Dengar Roth." However, Roth's appearance is different from the one in the Dark Force Rising Sourcebook. He has hair and no apparent scars on his face.

The real Dengar appears in Dark Empire, bandages and all.

The Last Command Sourcebook formally establishes the retcon that "Dengar Roth" was in fact a bounty hunter named Gunner Groth who tried to impersonate Dengar so that he may command higher bounty fees.

I don't recall him dying in Dark Empire. I don't have my copy in hand to check, so how did he kick the bucket in DE?

You can see Bossk on the sail barge. In the interior shot immediately before Threepio says "Victims of the almighty sarlacc..." Bossk can be seen on the right of the frame between Threepio and Ree-Yees.

He's also in the shot after Luke says "Free us or die". There's a shot with several of Jabba's minions looking out of the window and laughing. There's Tessek, Ree-Yess and an Ishi Tib with Bossk barely visible behind them but you can tell that it's him.

Yeah he would. I distinctly remember a character named "Bossk" listed on a card-back in 1980. That's way before the EU.

Bossk, Dengar, IG-88, Zuckass, Fett, 4-LOM, Fett....

They all had names. Given to Kenner by Lucasfilm before the movie even came out.[face_shhh]
