In ESB, in the scene where in Executor, Piett says, "Bounty Hunters, we don't need that scum"..
After that, Piett and Bossk come face to face and Bossk murmurs something..

Does anybody know if Bossk says something in Trandoshan Language or he just shows his anger???

I really think that he is just grunting like he is some sort of tough guy, perhaps trying to show off to the imperials that he is not afraid and can get the job done.

To me, it's always sounded like he's saying, "Let's go south." :p

What's interesting is that the screenplay for ESB doesn't even feature Bossk's dialogue, nor the exchange of glances between Piett and Bossk. My guess is that this was improvised on set, the way numerous little moments like this were done on ESB. In that case there would be no scipted "translation" of Bossk's hissy grumbling. I imagine it's something like: "Call me a scum, will you, you Imperial pink-face?" ;)

Was it really Piett that said that? I guess I always assumed that he was above that, but maybe not?....

    Yeah it was Piett:

"Bounty hunters! We don't need their scum. Those Rebels won't escape us."

    Then Bossk says his line.

Bossk was asking Piett if he should paint his toe nails pink or not...

Actually, I'm glad there's no actual dialogue (assuming Bossk actually says something... he might just be snickering or making a general sound (perhaps belching from the case of beer he and Dengar shared on the ride over ;-) ). The lack of dialogue makes it a pure physical encounter and it works very well, thanks in no small part to Mr. Colley's underplayed performance in that short scene.

And I don't see it beneath Piett to say such. Firstly, by hiring bounty hunters, Vader has basically said that Piett and his men aren't apparently up to the task. So Piett's comment can be both from personal distate over the situation and probably said aloud to also help morale. Secondly, whatever traits you throw at the man, he does give off a strong indication that he's thoroughly entrenched in the aristocratic nature of the Imperial navy: spit shined, by the numbers, clean and efficient. Suddenly on HIS bridge are six uncouth (and probably unwashed) vermin who make their living tracking down criminals and other low-level filth... sometimes within the boundaries of law, something not. They are cold blooded, untrustworthy types who most likely don't have any kind of respect for life or decent living. And, for the love of the Emperor, that lizard one is walking around barefoot! Yeah, also there is nothing else in the novelization...
But, i just thought that Bossk is from Trandosha, where that planet is in Kashyyyk System too. And maybe Trandoshans' language is just like Wookies'. So, i've seen a possibility.

By the way, i am pretty sure that hasn't been arranged by the time while ESB produced. But maybe ret-con later, ha..?[face_whistling]

I forgot the exact dialogue, but it is featured in Tales Of The Bounty Hunters Novel, Bossk's tale. Bossk is reacting to what Piet says about not needing their (bounty hunter's) scum.

Actually Bossk tells the Empire "let's look for Alf" http://multimedia.theforce.net/imageFolio.cgi?direct=Audio/Classic_Trilogy/Characters/Bounty_Hunters/Bossk

Hmmm, I guess I always thought of Piett has being less evil and narrow-minded than the average Imperial.

I for one am absolutely sold. Forget that "Alf" was not created until the mid-80s. Listen for yourself: the endless repetition in the above link proves beyond all doubt that Bossk's single, infamous line of dialogue in ESB is: "Let's look for Alf!"

Maybe Bossk and Alf used to romp? [face_thinking]

I always saw it as some nasty comment Bossk made in his native language. It's much how like someone who speaks more than one language will make a brief comment about someone else in a language they don't understand, especially when they know it's insulting or rude to say it so that the other party would understand.

I think its most likely that it was a comment in his native language. Could be something really nasty, could just be an "Oh?" coupled with that look Bossk gives him, which would have about the same effect.

    Alf flashbacks, eh?

I think the Trandoshan speech is something like "Luxa bigwa auf!" which I have no idea to the literal translation of.

I always thought he was saying something like "Scum begets scum" as if to say that Piett and the rest of the Imps are no better than his fellow bounty hunter kind.

Bossk was reminding Piett that, should the need arise, they could most certainly throwdown.

"I'm from the streets! What up now?"
