In ANH at the beginning when R2D2 is playing the message for Obi-wan she says her father fought with General Kenobi in the clone wars and has sent this message for his help.

We know Vader is really her father so who is pretending to be her father on Alderan?

Also we know in ROTJ Luke tells Leia that she's his sister but as far as I can remember she is never told that Vader is his father.

So does she keep believing that this person pretending to be her father is still her father?

She's referring to "Bail Alderaan" (seen in AotC 'Unfortunately, the debate is NOT over!' and RotS) who is her "public father" so to say.

However, she knows that her 'public parents' aren't her real parents as evidenced when Luke asks her, 'your real mother?'. I think she finds out the moment Luke tells her that Vader is his father and that he's her brother, perhaps it's part of the reason she starts crying?

Well, in ROTJ, Luke said that Vader was his father. Then he continued saying that the force is strong in his family... his father has it, he and his sister. So, I think Leia made the link. ;)

Ok, now I remember. Wasn't sure Luke had told Leia that Vader was his father.

Yeah, she most certainly does know and in the EU, The Truce at Bakura Vader's ghost came to her to give her an apology and she basicially told him to get the hell off teh Force boat!

Yeah, but she was a tad more elegant in her choice of words and not so blunt. But when it was all said and done, she did kinda say that.

That is sad. Even though he has done a lot of bad things especially to her it would be nice if Leia could see the good in Anakin the way Luke does, especially after a number of years have passed since ROTJ and Leia would most likely know about what happened on DS2. But like I said he has done a lot of bad things so it is understandable why but still it is kinda sad.

    Ciao!

The Truce at Bakura is only a day after Return of the Jedi. At least, the beginning of it is. Did he talk to her in Tattooine Ghost?

Did he look like Sebastian Shaw or Hayden Christensen when he appeared to Leia?;)

Neither. I think the novel actually gave him brown eye. :p But he was an older gentlemen, middle aged and described as "pleasant-looking" I think.

I don't blame Leia for not forgiving him. It is only a day after ROTJ, and...really, how many people here could find it in themselves to forgive the man who tortured you then stood by and watched your home planet destroyed? It's actually quite a testament to Leia's character that she ever found it in herself to forgive him to begin with. (She did, btw, just much, much later in the EU, ten or so years following ROTJ. By the time the NJO rolled around, when she referred to "father," she was usually talking about Vader.)

IN ROTJ, Luke says Vader's his father and Leia's his sister to her. She can only assume that Vader is her father too. Since she knew Bail wasn't her father biologically.

I have always thought that the matter in question was a bit of a missed opportunity in "Return of the Jedi". Obviously, as others have stated, Leia is intelligent enough to come to the conclusion that Vader is her father also; what surprises me is that (ostensibly) it did not occur to her sooner. Should it have been adressed in "Jedi"? From a narrative and dramatic standpoint it is quite arguable; would "dealing" with Leia's feelings detract from the underlying (dramatic) purpose of the discussion between herself and Luke on Endor? I think that there is the possibility that issues such as these, which are basically extraneous, are brought up and thus threaten to de-rail the story. And yet, when you consider it logically, it makes little sense - unless she is in abject denial, Leia must remember that Vader did torture her, hurt and kill many of her friends, not to mention destroying her "homeworld" of Alderaan. That must be a pretty traumatic realization to have. In fact, her brother had such a reaction, if I recall correctly. I can just picture it: "He's your father? Wait. And I'm your sister. That means.......NO!!!!!!!!!!!" Seriously, though, I find it curious that the issue was assiduously avoided. I guess we won't know.

Leia had a more subtle reaction than Luke but when she tells Han "I just need to be alone for a little while", she sounds like is about to start crying. I doubt she cried about Luke being her brother, but rather about Vader being her father.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe she was upset that she'd never again experience that Luke lovin' like in TESB. :p

Yes Leia finds out that Vader is her father. Luke tells her in Return of the Jedi and she actually sees Anakin as a Force ghost in Truce at Bakura. He tries to apologize to her for turning and not being able to be with her when she was growing up.
