I swore by my life that Maul was a much better villain than Dooku was. I don't think Dooku was used to his full potential in Episode 2 and 3. He seemed a little two demensional and not very menacing. To say the least he was my least favorite villain ever.

Now after watching Clone Wars animated series. I love him. Its sad when the animated character is the better actor...Sorry Christoper Lee, they can'tr write dialogue to save their souls. But the way he fights, his cokcy attitude that he can actually back up with mad skills. His character development is much better in the Clone Wars than in the movies.

I lloved him in Clone Wars and hated him in the movies.
Did anyone else feel the same way? About Dooku or any other character?

I don't like Dooku at all. He was ok in the CLONE WARS, but I can't stand him in any of the films. His fighting style is ok, but you can thank a fight double amd ILM for that. To me, Dooku wasn't scary or someone to fear. He was about as scary as that old lonely guy down at the end of my street. Thank god Anakin took that old man's place by Palpatine's side!!

Dooku is the more elegant and noble character in AOTC and ROTS...

He owns, and his lightsaber is as cool as hell...

But I do prefer him on the Clone Wars, cause his appearance on the movies is very short...

The only thing I hated was that Dooku died like a little bitch in III. That was a pretty brutal and disturbing moment for a star wars movie.

The cartoons demonstrated that Dooku does belong among the top five most powerful Jedi/Sith.

The way he brutalized Ventress is classic.

He was sadly under-used in AOTC and ROTS.

I like Dooku in the movies, he is more civilized, elegant, is not a brutal villain... he is "a political idealist"; in Clone Wars we see more of his "brutal" style but never loosing his class... But I didn't like how he was written in the ROTS novel...

An elegant villain from a more civilized time.

Class is so hard to find in this day and age.

I prefered nearly all the characters in the Clone Wars over their live-action counterparts, and Dooku especially. This probably has to do with character development. There was very little, I know, but if you consider the movies, there is no character development at all.

Not as chance. Christifor Lee played Count Dooku brilliantly! Count Dooku is one of the best chracters of Star Wars. His lighstaber is probelly the best one. His evreything is amazing. Clone wars just kept him ok. I lived with it. Didn't like didn't hate.
    Movies made him awsome!

I am going to deviate a bit from the topic in order to make my point.

Episode I should have had Dooku as the main bad guy instead of Darth Maul. Qui-Gon vs Dooku. Qui-Gon gets killed by his former master and then beats Obi-Wan. Something happens and Dooku is forced to retreat before striking the final blow. Don't get me wrong, OB1 puts up a fight but gets owned in his padawan youthfulness.

The Episode II duel would be exactly as it happened on screen except with better choreography. It was wea...even the over-the-top Yoda sequence. The "I cannot take Dooku alone" line would actually mean something since OB1 has dealt with him previously.

Episode III should have had Anakin fighting General Grievous (revealed to be Jedi master Sipho Diass). Who else but the chosen one can take this ridiculous Jedi killing machine alone? And what better way to validate OB1 beating Anakin than to have him avenge Qui-Gon from the guy that beat him twice already?

Dooku is a great character that could have been extraordinary if Lucas had not been making this prequel saga as he went along. I like that they had the apprentice of the apprentice fight each other (Yoda > Dooku > Qui-Gon > OB1 > Anakin) but after looking at the Clone Wars cartoon you get the feeling that Dooku's character was incredibly wasted along with the talent of Christopher Lee. Dooku really is an epic character with a rich history in the bigger scheme of things. He is confident, has an aura of leadership and is powerful yet understated.

IMHO, Dooku is much better in Clone Wars. That's not saying much, however. I really can't stand him in the films.

About that thing Jdie night. I agree tottaly he should have been ine p 1 it would have been cool for a master to kill his apprentice. Though I don't like what you said for ep3. I loved the other.

I think that the clone wars cartoon shows a more menacing Greivous than a run away woosy Greivous in episode 3

Dooku was better in clone wars because there was a bit more character development beyond the "charasmatic seperatist" for him. But his duels in the movies were better. So I liked them both. Dooku was a great villian for the prequels.

I agree, IMO Dooku was portrayed too flat in the movies, he didn't seem the mighty Sith he's supposed to be....but in Clone Wars he's amazing! As you said, classic, calculating, great fighter and eeeeeevil to the bones :D
