EvanNova95 has said that James Luceno should write a novel about Dooku's life as a Jedi. I think Luceno should. Luceno is an excellent writer, and his novels, including Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, Darth Plagueis, and Tarkin, are some of the best Star Wars novels out there. I think that there needs to be a work that explores a younger Dooku and his training of Qui-Gon Jinn. This is partly because I find Dooku interesting as Darth Tyranus. It would be interesting Luceno to write about Dooku and foreshadow how he would turn out. We know about Lorian Nod and some elements of Dooku's background, but even that needs to be explored in more depth. I especially like that one story of how Qui-Gon kept his master, Dooku, from liking Nod at one point. One could draw parallels between how Qui-Gon was good for Dooku and how Ahsoka was good for Anakin. What do you think? Would any of you be interested in reading such a story about Dooku?
I certainly would as Luceno is my favorite star wars author. Dooku having his own book would good as thought his character was wasted in the PT, I thought the character had so much potential as a more complex character. While there have been books that have touched on this, a full book on Dooku would't be bad.
I think Luceno is the only writer I am aware of that would truly strive to show Dooku is a fully-realised man and not a cardboard supposed 'villain' as I believe he does with Tarkin. Besides Y: DR is likely the only novel I'd consider taking seriously regarding Chris' character.
He is my favorite Star Wars author, as well, considering how he crafted Darth Plagueis. That novel doesn't even contain any of my favorite characters, but it's a book you can't put down. It makes you contemplate philosophy, business, politics, ethics, and so on. It's really weird how it has this recurring theme of life being cheap, something with which I don't agree, but it does show how selfish, amoral, and ruthless people can be. At any rate, I think that a novel about Dooku would be the perfect opportunity to show us the similarities and differences between Dooku and Qui-Gon. For some people, unfortunately, there is lingering doubt about Obi-Wan's statement to Dooku that Qui-Gon would never join him. I fully believe that Qui-Gon would never join him had he been around to witness what he became. The novel could show Dooku being annoyed to no end with Qui-Gon's compassion for all kinds of beings, including those Dooku wouldn't regard as that important. Qui-Gon would show his interest in the Living Force and his focus on the moment, not dwelling on the past or trying to control the future, and a lot of this could contrast with Dooku's thinking. Luceno does have experience writing Qui-Gon from Cloak of Deception, and so this wouldn't be a foreign concept for him.
He's done good work showcasing the full personality of evil/darkside characters in his other novels, so I don't see why not.
The gap between TPM and AOTC is pretty bare. Finding out more about how the Separatist crisis started, more about the clones, more about the members of the Separatist council etc.
I think it is entirely possible Qui-Gon would join Dooku. I don't see Dooku's motives for departing the Jedi as misguided or selfish as it seems many do. I believe he left for integrity and he stayed with what he believed.
He remained the political idealist that he always always. But he came to believe the sorrow and corruption in the galaxy could only be responded to with anger and hate. A lot of the disgust and resentment he felt in the years before he left the Jedi Order transformed into more unhealthy and darker emotions after he became a Sith.
I would like to see a novel from Dooku's POV about his disillusionment with the political system and why he thought joining Sidious would be a good idea. Maybe his friendship with Sifo-Dyas as well. And yes, Luceno should write it.
Only if it's Plagueis!Luceno and not Tarkin!Luceno. The evil twin needs to get back to his home dimension ASAP.
He did say that he would have rather written a Palpatine novel...which probably explains why the best part of Tarkin was Palps and Vader.
I think Stewart did a great job with Yoda: Dark Rendezvous. I enjoyed reading that during Summer 2005. But I would prefer Luceno to handle it, given how impressive he was with the stories of Plagueis and Tarkin. And, Kablob, I would have liked a Palpatine novel, but the Darth Plagueis novel is the closest thing we'll get to one, and that's really all I need.
Only if it goes from after TPM through the Clone Wars. The gap between EP1 and EP2 needs to be covered and is more important, but we could use more with the Clone Wars. I'd love to see Dooku's work with the Shadowfeed and also his political work throughout the war.
There could be a duology made: Jinn by John Jackson Miller and then Dooku by James Luceno. The death of Dooku's padawan would affect him in the final days of the Clone Wars.
Ill read anything Luceno, he is my favorite EU author by far, have not been disappointed in one of his novels yet (only halfway through Tarkin atm though) I also agree that there is a big gap in story between TPM and AOTC, if anyone can "humanize" the Separatist movement, its him. Even though I really enjoyed TCWs, my biggest grip was that the Separatist turned into mustaches twirling villains.
