Dooku once had Qui-Gon as a Padawan. Now think about this. How old was Qui-Gon in TPM? My guess is somewhere between 35-40 yrs. So rewind, and let's say Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon ages are the same as Dooku/Qui-Gon. So Dooku would be around 35-45 and Qui-Gon about 17-19. So take another 20 years for both of them to Episode One, which would make Dooku around 60. Then there's the extra 10 years after TPM when we finally see Dooku, which makes him approximately 70 years old! Other species, such as Yoda's, can live to be around 900, yadda yadda, but normally humans that die from old age die around that time in SW.

Now Dooku is a pretty damn good swordsman and a good military leader for around 70 years old. Most likely my estimation is a bit off but if it's true I think they could've made him a bit younger.

Actually, the OS says Dooku had been studying the ways ofthe Force for almost eight decades, so he could be in his mid-to late 80's.

Wow! That's almost unbelievable for me, I would've liked to seen a much younger villian, but older than Maul.

I think Qui-Gon was certainly older than 35-40 in TPM, I'd say hes more like 55-60.

Yeah, in the ancient force manuscripts I think there was a scene that went like this. "And just before the force created dirt, it created a Dooku. And it saw that it was good.

I prefer having the older and distinguished villain of Count Dooku to the rather single purposed and ticked Maul.

Christopher Lee is 82 it makes sense that dooku would be around the same age, since he studying the ways ofthe Force for almost eight decades. and we know kids begin jedi training very young if anakin was considered too lod by yoda.

I think Lucas decided that Qui-Gon was a bit younger once Neeson was cast. 45-50.

Dooku is indeed 80 by the time of AOTC. It's quite funny to think that Obi-Wan by the age of 57 wasn't nearly as fast as him. Although Obi hadn't been doing any Jedi stuff for 19 years in ANH. The same goes for Vader. He probably hadn't fought any worthy opponents for years. In TESB, though, he had worked up some of his former skill.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. Yoda was 874 in AOTC and he was still much faster than Ben and Vader, even without the dark side.
It's like everything that needs practice - when you haven't done it in a while, you'll have to practice a lot to get back in shape.

Yoda is not human and his species lives longer.

Ben and Dooku are both human.

Looks at Palps in ROTJ, how old is he? And he is more powerful than any Jedi.

But he had only 26 more years to live. 874 for Yoda must be like 70 for a human.
And I still stand by this: It's like everything that needs practice - when you haven't done it in a while, you'll have to practice a lot to get back in shape.

BTW: Who said that being more powerful means that you're faster? Did you ever see Palpatine dance around in graceful but deadly twirls with a lightsaber?

BTW 2: Vader uses the dark side....

I don't know, but we do know that Sidious isn't human...at least not anymore that is. If that's true, he's at least 200 years old to being possibly as old or older than Master Yoda...someone had to hold over the Sith Underground all of these years...

It'd been at least 1,000 years since the Sith were wiped out in it's war with the Republic and it couldn't have just revamped itself in one or two years.

we do know that Sidious isn't human

How do we know know that? I always though he was a human strong with the dark side to prevent his death. By ROTJ he's pretty decrepit.

Also, I think the Jedi only believed the Sith have been extinct for a millenia. Actually, there have been two all along...but not the same two. Master and apprentice, master dies, apprentice becomes the master...etc. We don't know when Sidious was an apprentice or how long he's been the master.

Doesen't it seem slighty strange to you that he's pretty clean cut when in office and yet he looks completely different when he's dressed as a Dark Lord? A human couldn't do that, but i don't think he's a changeling...probably something we've never heard of.

Of course the Jedi only think the Sith are extinct. Sidious has had a great number of Apprentices. Dooku, Maul, Anakin, and that's only the list we know of. He's probably at least 50 in his reign. And since we know that, we can tell he's not human. No human can last that long. The force can protect an individual, but it cannot make them immortal. That's why i think Sidious is something other than a human.

How do you know there have been more? Maul very well could have been his first.

You know, that black hood he has over his face as Sidious isn't part of his body; it's a cloth ;)

Palpatine is about 50 in TPM, which makes him approximately 86 in ROTJ.

EDIT: Made clear it was a joke.

Not at all likely. At his age and with all of his power, he must've had some in the past.

And why is that? Palpatine is 50, Maul is about 25. This means that he started training Maul in his mid-twenties, shortly after(or before) his own master died.
It's not likely that Sidious had an apprentice before Maul.
