    I hate Stereotypes.
That's just a soft word for biggotry! The one stereotype that really gets me is the one that suggests that if you like Star Wars then somehow you must be a virgin. That's just stupid! I say we stand up to this false hood. I say we raise ourselves erect and let the world know that we aren't going take this lying down anymore

I am here to say that I like Star Wars!
I am here to say that I was in line for Episodes I & II two hours in advance!
I am here to say that I caught the midnight showing on opening night for both Episodes I & II!
I am here to say that I plan on doing the same for Episode III!
And I am here to say that I am NOT a virgin. I have had sex close to 1000 times!!

    Enough with the stereotypes!!!

I think the best way to abolish stereotypes is not to vehemently deny that you fit the mold-- that will just reinforce them-- but to say it's OK to live your life however you want.

I've sort of been a "closet SW fan", but lately I've been coming out. I now have a SW desktop wallpaper, I no longer my SW novels under my bed whenever anyone comes near my room, and several close friends know that I am a fan. :D

And here I always thought Star Wars fans weren't allowed to have sex.

    All those years... wasted.

I'm a virgin, and I like starwars. However, I think the stereotype only corners male fans--which is also a stereotype in itself: Being that only males are allowed to appreciate and understand starwars.

And for those women out there who like it, you don't have to be fat or hairy to like it! You don't even have to be relatively manly, or a butch lesbian! Most of the fans I've seen are young, beautiful ladies! And if not, they USED to be young, beautiful ladies! *smiles*

What I have to admit, though--is that most of my friends--who are all star wars fans--happen to be male, hairy, and/or fat or deathly skinny. And all but a couple are virgins. In fact, I know a man who just celebrated his 28th birthday--and has not yet had sex. I congratulate him, but usually by that age, if you haven't had sex, any future intimacy between you, and well--anyone else, has gotta be pretty damn uncomfortable.

Congratulations for being a SW slut, Jim-Jim ;) Just messing with ya.

    Yay for breaking stereotypes!

Jim Jim, that's quite a lot, I don't think any hookers have that much sex. And I say screw stereotypes!

I have had sex close to 1000 times!! [i/]

    Spoken like a true virgin.

Stereotypes happen because they're generally accurate. Whether you like it or not SciFi fandom is generally full of people w/low self esteem and confidence, usually don't meet the physical idea of "pretty", and tend to be quit goofy. It's a fact. Now, there are plenty of "pretty" people who like Star Wars. The difference is the "pretty" people usually have good esteem and confidence. This enables them to discuss things other than Star Wars or SciFi in general. This makes the appear mulit dimensional.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan but if I see two or more people actually discussing the movie like we do in this forum my first thought is "Geek!" but not in a bad way. Being a Geek or Nerd nowadays is no longer the socially crippling thing it used to be.

As to Star Wars and sex, if you're not getting any due to being a Star Wars fan there are probably 7 or 8 other personality traits that are really keeping the sex away.

Nerd stereotypes are hilarious. I say, the more the better. Conan O'Brien is the king of geek jokes. That Triumph the Insult Comic Dog at the NY AOTC line segment was pure comedy gold!

I love stereotypes of any kind... I assume being a total nerd, I act geeky about almost everything I'm into, from my studies to music, to food, to movies, and science stuff too because it's fun to appear more clever than the average while I actually don't give a damn...

Auto-derision rocks, especially when the image you want to break is not even true :)

    Ha Ha!

I expected this topic to get locked. This much positive feed back puzzles and shocks me.

    zvezdy, SW slut [face_laugh]

Don't misunderstand me, I am not knocking virginity itself. I was a virgin when I married my wife five years ago (close to 1000 times was an estimate. No doubt inflated, but it made my point.).

I just don't like the assumption.

    Peace, the SW slut.
