Drew and his wife are friends of ours, and we got to see this book in progress. There are many SW and Raiders posters in there plus his other incredible stuff. The quality is excellent. Drew is amazing! The book is well worth the expense.

JB - you and BernieSolo are the coolest people ever! I'm looking forward to picking up a copy and meeting Mr. Struzan.

 

It's just that BeSo has been in his field for 30+ years and has managed to meet EVERYONE. Plus, he's a nice, nice guy, so folks tend to stay friends! I'm just along for the ride, and am pretty quiet and fan-girlie around most of them. Drew and his wife are really special though: smart and talented and fun. And they live in Pasadena, so we get to see them pretty often.

 

Just a reminder to those not going to the concert tonight. I'll be there. If anyone wants a copy, let me know. I don't know if there is a limit on how many I can get. So far I'm getting three. If you want one, let me know and write out what you want him to write. I'll see if I can get them personalized. The book is $30 + tax, I think. I'll try to check again around lunch.

I'll be there around 6. I have to pick up my copies still but I have some being reserved for me. I called and there are no limits.

 

Well, ValedaKor and I had a great time hanging out while waiting for Drew to arrive. He started out by saying he was an artist and not a speaker so he took questions the whole time. He is a fascinating person, full of very interesting stories, perspectives, and ideas. He spoke about art, working for studios, the life of a struggling artist, his love of art, computers (boo!) vs. real art, and a host of other topics. After about an hour of answering questions (the time really flew), he sat down and signed books. ValedaKor and I relayed BeSo's and JB's greetings and we invited him to our next meeting. I even offered to buy his dinner. When we told him it was a Star Wars club, he said he had stories he could tell which was a better reason to join us but I doubt he will. Any way, he also said that BeSo and JB made the better choice, go to the concert rather than come see him. Great sense of humor and a wonderful man. It was a thrill to have met him. There is a possibility that ValedaKor and I might appear on Bravo Canada as they were filming the event.

 

Thanks for saying "hi" from us! Yeah, Drew is really great (as is his wife -- was she there too?). We'll give 'em a personal invite to come to a meeting too...actually several "famous" friends keep saying they'll come, but are always busy (good for them, though!).

Glad you had a good time, but you both were missed last night at the concert!

Yes, please extend an invite so he doesn't think we are crazy stalker people. I don't know if his wife was there but he is such a nice guy. He reminded me a lot of BeSo because he's so soft spoken.

 

Drew and his wife (we saw them last night) will try to come on Sunday! If not, they'd like to try to come in the future...

Once again, reason I am cooler than J-R and D-H:

Some of us met Drew, and got his autpgraph, and photo taken at Celebration I in Denver. (pre LAFF) He was cool, signing posters for TPM at the convention. I took my photo with him, and him signing, to verify it is legitimate.
