There was an article in an old Gamer about droid PCs. Unfortunately, I can't get a hold of it. I am wondering what the basic rules are. I've developed a few house rules to cover it, how far off am I?

Being a droid is like being a certain species. Models will get bonuses and penalties to Attributes

Droids start out as Experts, Diplomats, or in rare cases, Thugs. The player must accept one of these classes at first level. At second level, the player can multi-class into a hero class if there is a class suitable to the make/model/droid personality.

Droids can not be force-sensitive, use force skills, or have or use force points and dark side points.

Almost all droids get Ambidexterity and Darkvision. They are suseptible to the Droid Ailments in the Core Rulebook

Adding skills or adding ranks not only costs points, but costs credits

Ownership, droids killing sentinents, etc stuff is up to the GM

Ok, you're pretty close. I don't have it with me but I'll give you what changes I know off hand.

Droid PCs start as second level characters (1st level is Diplomat/Expert/Thug, 2nd hero class)
    Ranks don't cost credits.

If you want I can post more from the article if you want.

There's a Star Wars Gamer with rules for droid PC's out there somewhere. It's the one with an armed protocal droid on the front

Ok, here is a few main things, ask any questions and I'll try to get you the answers.

*Each droid hero has four major factors that affect abilities, skills, and behavior: Degree(1st-5th), Chassis(Humaniod, Astromech, Treadwell, Multi-legged, Hybrid), Manufaturer(Ask if you want to know there are a bunch), and personality (quirks).

*Droids don't have to sleep, but they do need 30 mins in shut down mod for every 72 hours active. Otherwise they must make a WILL save (DC 15) or suffers corruption as in Core Book.

*NO Force skills, Force Feats, or Force Points

*Lost wound and ability points can only be gotten back with Repair skill (Can repair self).

*Droid skill points can be reassigned through Computer Use check (Can do this to self but must be undisturbed).

*Droid must have at least one level in Expert, Diplomat, or Thug as a "Factory Set" (in case of memory wipe). Keep a copy of the "Factory Set" separt incase on memory wipe during game. [face_devil]

*A droid begins play with 1 professional level and one additional level of choice.

*Ability points gained at 4th, 8th, etc levels must go into Int, Wis, or Cha.

    *Starting credits normally 2d6x100.

Ok, so thats the basics. There are 20 quirks, 20 manufactures, 8 new add on parts, and a bunch more stuff in the article. So ask semi-specific questions please.

Sweet, thanks a lot. Beware roaming droid Scoundrels in my campaign now :) This:

"Droid skill points can be reassigned through Computer Use check (Can do this to self but must be undisturbed). "

Does that mean the skill points gained at a level up, or any skill points the droid already has? And does it say how long this takes?

    Thanks a lot again :)

Sorry about the delay in response. It actually doesn't say. I think the time it takes is in the Core Book under that skill.
