TESBY was captured using the Pinnacle DC10+ (honestly!) Now that you have finshed laughing,we were able to download a codec that would allow us to use the DC10+ captured footage in Premiere without the capture card (which I no longer have).

We also have some other old projects that were captured using the Pinncale DV500 - is there a codec anywhere where we could download/buy to allow us to use that footage?

The Galaxy may well depend on this....

I always thought the morgan MJPEG codec worked. Does it not?

But there's a big codec pack here

    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/ACE_Mega_CoDecS_Pack.htm

Maybe one of those will work.

VirtualDub 1.6.11 or higher may be able to open the Pinnacle DV codec. I know it can open AVIs encoded with the Micro$oft DV codec just fine. It cannot encode using the Micro$oft DV codec but it can open them so you can then convert them to another codec. Worth a shot.

I also once owned the Pinnacle DC10 and still own a Pinnacle DV500... though I no longer use it. Stand-alone DVRs are far superior to video capture cards for capturing analog video.

    Does this help?

Explanation: The early versions of the Pinnacle DV500 wrote their DV format wrong. It's still standard DV format, but tagged incorrectly. If this is the kind of footage you have, my hack fixes it. But Pinnacle fixed it in any "modern" version of their drivers, so it's only THAT problem if you have a really OLD set of files....

TEST IT ON A COPY FIRST!

Rather than post a new thread....

For some reason, Premiere won't fade video. You know, the red line on the video track. just like the sound, you can fade the vision out etc... well on MY prmiere, sometimes it will and sometmes it won't! All the video clips are on video tracks 3 or higher.

I am sure there is a simple button or mode I have inadvertanly selected but I am stumped!

    Help!

    6.5

But I have found that the little bands have names... they are called opacity rubber bands (what else?!). Apparantly I have to set the video transparncey to 'on' and at least to alpha channel.

So sorted, perhaps I should be called Qui-cant-edit!
