My DVD picture is fine but several of my friends who have players get a picture that is WAY too bright and usually have no idea how to fix it?

Anyone know why this happens on DVD players?

    Try adjusting the TV set.

Use the THX optimizer to set up the TV.

On a side note, has the TV really sapped that much intelectual power from people these days?

Adjusting the TV sets never works for this problem.

Hit the DVD player with a hammer.

Tell them to get a decent TV, use worthwhile connections (s-video or better) and possibly a better DVD player.

As for adjusting the TV, which settings did you adjust?

What is this DVD that you all speak of? Is that like a VHS or something?

I did read your first post. You said your friends' DVD players display too brightly. We said adjust the TV. You said that doesn't work. I asked what you adjusted. You said nothing, 'cause your TV works fine.

Did anyone at all try to adjust your friends' TVs? Since that would be the smart, logical thing to do?

Are your friends sharing the same player? Check the brightness just as everyone is telling you. You could also check the cables such as RCA's or S-Video links. I have never heard of a DVD player (or multiple players for that matter) being consistantly too bright. I have heard of players that go from too bright to too dim, but that can be fixed by adjusting the cable length.

Just out of curiosity, I ran a search under groups on Google and didn't get a single hit on the subject of "DVD too bright". Maybe your friends should lay off the LCD?

You might want to try and purchase premium RCA cables. There are some that use gold prongs as opposed to the silver. THX also has a brand on the market you can buy. The transer of picture to TV is only going to be as good as the cables you are running them through. And if this doesn't do the trick, I'd try adjusting the TV again...or get a new one.

Try watching the television with sunglasses on.
