    just imagine if people will do some crazy stuff like openig BOX OFFICE DAY :) 50mil $
    so if ROTS will sell 10mil copies first day, it will make 150-200mil $ day ;)
    (I am not sure what is average price of ROTS DVD in states....)

    I just thought of a good tag line:

    "Batman begins at home..."

    Maybe that would have increased the sales of that awful movie.

    Anyway, ROTS will break records again.

    Agreed?!

    yes and those numbers are from 2002, so now its more like 9mil copies...

    important info,

    in 2002 number of desktop players was 43.9

    sales in millions
    FOTR 12 - 257.3 mil$
    Spiderman 12.2 - 215.3
    Monsters 11.8 - 202
    HP1 - 9.1 - 166.7
    AOTC - 8.1 - 144.8

    we have now year 2005 !! with so far 95.6 mil players
    so we have two times MORE DVD PLAYERS around....

    and BATMAN BEGINS was not able to top MONSTERS opening day with double avaible players...

    opening day records...

    1. Finding NEMO 8 mil DVD's
    2. Spiderman 7 mil DVD's
    3. HP 1 6mil DVD's
    4. HP 3 6 mil DVD's
    5. Monsters Inc. 5mil

    last year SW OT trillogy made 115mil openig day WORLDWIDE with battlefront game
    sold almost 6mil copies = 273mil $

    AOTC did more than 3mil copies in 2002 opening week, TPM did 2.2 mil copies in 2001 with 26.8mil players avaible..

    and you are telling us that ROTS will not BEAT 4mil copies in first week of BATMAN ? you are kidding right ?

    marek

    Not to mention the fact that Lucas puts out videos and DVD in LIMITED runs. Attack of the Clones was unavailable for about two years until this past spring.

    Let's not also forget that ROTS nearly DOUBLED UP Batman in the BO.

    Oh, so Batman Begins' 4 million in one week is a record.
    You said it wouldn't see as much as Batman, not break records. I said 7.8 million first day, which isn't a record.

    You were around in the BO thread talking about Batman until it came out. So I'm guessing you'll disappear come Wednesday.

    ======================================================

    check internet FIRST, here are few links about records......

    TPM did set a new record for DVD sales in America in its first weeks of release, of course it was in time where each next big movie broke a record.... with GROWING SALES OF DVD players.

    ============================================================
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/1617965.stm
    The film was released in the US and UK on 15 October and also went to number one on the UK DVD sales chart.

    Its sales in America - worth $45m (£32m) - beat the previous record of two million sales in one week, set by The Mummy Returns just two weeks ago.

    "This stellar sales performance is even more impressive given that it is nearly three years after its theatrical release and 18 months after its VHS release," Lucasfilm executive Jim Ward told Variety magazine.
    ============================================================

    http://www.audiorevolution.com/news/1001/25.starwars.shtml
    Star Wars Phantom Menace Breaks DVD Sales Record
    Beating the mark set a mere two weeks ago by The Mummy Returns, Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace sold more copies on DVD than any other DVD ever. Star Wars junkies gobbled up 2.2 million copies of The Phantom Menace in its first week on store shelves.
    ============================================================

    few notes about EP1, first, it sold more than 10mil of VHS copies, because there were no WORDS when DVD will be released......

    at those times........ first bigger record was with THE MUMMY - 2.0 mil copies first week,
    week or two later it was broke by TPM with 2.2mil copies...

    well MArek the average price for dvds in the Us would be around 17 dollars, I'll say, I don't base this on hard facts just on prices i hvae seen and I used to work in a movie store. Oh and ROTS is the last Star Wars movie so that may well factor into it's sales. If it were released on VHS I'd buy it too, just like every other Star Wars movie (with exception to the ewok adventure movies)

    There is apparently a great shortage of the Batman Begins Deluxe editions, while you can find the bare bones Batman Begins DVD out the wazoo.
    I knew I should have gotten it on the first release day. I will with EP3, I'll be there at midnight.
