    Early Warning

    OTP – Ysanne and Yavinelf

    PAIRING:
    Ysanne Isard:
Imperial Intelligence director. Former Galactic Republic security agent with SBI (Senate Bureau of Intelligence).
Yavinelf Dangerrescue / Lord Nelf: Sith Inquisitor. Former Galactic Republic security agent with BESI (Bureau of Extra-Sensory Intelligence. Level 28 Rescue Ranger with Surefall Paramedics, Everquest MMORPG.
Their origins: We Will Always Have Iskalon. The first post there, only. Truncated, but I am trying to recover the data.
Date: Several days after Rogue One.

“So, she lived?” Ysanne Isard enquired off the irate Sector Governor whose wife’s sister’s neice, had been working on Scarif as a data administrator when Grand Moff Tarkin had turned up in his newly minted Death Star.

But that’s not the point!” Governor Aynards insisted, his pinkish-white jowls shaking as he tried to get his point across the long-range communications. “She and the other survivors had to dig themselves out.

Hands together on the lap of her crimson-trousers as she leaned towards the wall of repeater screens in her office, she soothed, “After what happened to them, covered in a little dirt is not that bad, Governor.”

There was a click above from the ceiling tiles above her head, and red cloth dropped over her head and face.

    What’s with the drapes, Isard?

“Goodbye, Governor.” Muscle memory led her right hand blindly to the button on her desk, then she used it to wipe the cloth away from her eyes, and grinned excitedly, her heart beating faster, as she stood up from her desk to unclip the fallen wrap skirt from the washing pegs – such low tech – that clipped the waistband to the strings.

This was her Early or Advanced Warning System. It meant Yav was coming.

She had been in a long term, incredibly long-distance, relationship with the half-elf Sith Inquisitor since they had been partner Republic agents, and he had rescued her from Thromberg the Hutt’s marine laboratory on Iskalon.

An adjacent ceiling tile served a similar function, ready to drop a breathmask in the event that it detected less than healthy conditions in the local atmosphere.
She had seen the device in use on public air and space shuttles, dropping masks when a loss of atmospheric pressure was detected, and thought that it was a good idea as an AWS, and it helped her to get ready before he turned up.

Ysanne took off the wide black belt and undid her uniform tunic at the neck, chest and torso, so that it hung open under her arms, and so that no spy devices caught her in the altogether, pulled the open knee-length skirt around herself, matching two adhesive strips at the exterior of one corner, and somewhere inside the waistband, to initially secure it at her waistline, over the top of her trousers, then fitted the front flap into the horizontal zip slide which pulled it neatly taut across her front, then palmed the fabric over her bottom, so that it wouldn't scrunch under her when she dropped back into her chair to negotiate her black kneeboots off.

“Ludmilla!” She called towards the door, hoping that her secretary would be able to hear her.

The grey-uniformed woman stepped in almost immediately, standing in the doorway with a datapad held in her upturned hand. “Okay, your next appointment is-“

“Cancel all my appointments, Ludmilla.” Isard ordered.

    “Yes, Director.”

“Lord Nelf has been detected inside the planetary Security Zone. Find out where.”

    “At once, Director.”

    * * * *

Well, she needn’t have panicked; her alerts had been triggered by Nelf’s cruiser achieving low orbit over Imperial Centre, rather than him already being on the ground and actually inside Imperial Intelligence headquarters, as had happened before.

It tended to be a bit random as to when she realised he was on his way, which was why the trousers / skirt swap was always the first order of business, but this time she had time to have a water shower, and get fully changed into a fresh uniform, but the more feminine variety that he preferred to find her in. She was still at the office, after all.

She greeted him at the entrance to her office, the circular blast door unlocking with a decisive thud, and rolling aside after Ludmilla had announced the arrival.

Ysanne leaned up on one tiptoe to kiss Yavinelf, her other foot coming up behind her to knee level, which to her seemed to help, and the two former agents shared a tender hug, the director momentarily shooting a glare over his armoured shoulder pauldron at her subordinates outside, to stop their amused stares.

"You smell great, Ysanne. He complimented as they nuzzled one another.

"I have to do something to keep you coming back."

They let go and she turned to trot back to her desk, Yav pausing a moment to admire the muscle tone on the backs of her retreating calves, then grinning as he stepped after her and gave her skirted bottom an appreciative smack.

“Hey, watch that!” She admonished as she reached her desk, rounding it to reach her seat. “I’ve still got a 'kill on sight’ order out on the last being who did that.”

Still?” He ignored the visitor chairs as the door rolled closed behind him, and stepped up to the near side of the desk, unzipping a soft but cylindrical brown bag that he had suspended by a long strap from his shoulder. “When Agent Nifesta goes to ground, he doesn’t kid around.

Mitch Nifesta was a third Republic security agent that both had known during the Clone Wars. He had picked up their stranded choobs from Iskalon for a joint mission to Tatooine, with Yav quickly losing consciousness for several days, leaving her alone with Mitch.

Already regarding her as a child, the senior agent had found her so annoying, that eventually he had put her over his knee.

That had calmed her down, mostly, at least for the duration of the mission; but Isard held grudges like nobody's business.

Even this many years later, she would happily see that Twi'lek flensed.

Gritting her teeth at the harsh memory, the director of Imperial Intelligence crossed her legs and looked up at the Inquisitor in his green and black body armour, black because of his Sith career path, and green because of his Elven heritage. It was offset by a maroon floor-length cape made of some material unique to the Inquisitorious. The sight helped her to relax, and she was able to smile again. “So, to what do I owe the pleasure, My Lord?”

    What do-? It’s your birthday!

Her eyebrows shot up in surprise. “Is it?”

Yav shook his head. “Some intelligence officer.” He pulled a rolled up turquoise bath towel out of the bag and spread it over her desk, between them.

“Oh, you bought me a new towel!”

Sure I did.” His hand went back into the bag and he gingerly brought out a glassy cylinder the length and thickness of his forearm, and set it into the middle of the towel on four stubby metal legs welded to the cradle that the glass cylinder sat in.

The interior looked foggy, like it was filled with thick steam, whilst there was a prominent square red button set into the metal.

She clapped her hands in pretend delight. “A paperweight! Designed to look like, what is that, a Spaarti cylinder?”

Yav’ raised an eyebrow. “You know your cylinders.” He leaned over the desk to point at the button. “Go on, press it?

It was her turn to put a brow up for a couple of seconds as she pulled her hands back coquetishly, and looked up at him quizzically. She knew, she knew, that he would never do anything to harm her, but she had to show due caution of course. “I make it a habit to never press random red buttons.”

Don’t worry your pretty little head, Trip’.” He reassured, using his long-time nickname for her, a derivative of her former code name, “Triple X”. “I will Heal you if anything happens.

“Oh well, if you are sure.” Ysanne tentatively put out one hand, and pressed the button, four jets of mist spurted from the four ‘corners’, quickly fading, and then she noticed a tranparent viscous fluid was draining from the cylinder, soaking into the towel spread across the desktop, and the light grey fluid level inside the cylinder dropped steadily, revealing a black shape within the cylinder.

Well, that explained the towel then. She thought, curiously leaning forward to look at what looked like a drowned black kitten laying on its left side, head facing to her right, each of its four paws a damp white, its flank glistened with the after-effects of the drained fluid. Its eyes were closed, while both Imperials regarded it silently, one assured, one increasingly aghast.

The small animal abruptly opened its mouth and yawned, creating and popping a bubble of the fluid in as many seconds.

Relief flooded through Isard that her lover had not brought her a deceased animal, and she broke into a smile, unsure which query to lead with, what in Hapes was it, or....the second question had flown away, leaving its running mate as the one she would go with.

“What in the Emperor’s Name is it?”

The creature flapped its stubby legs as it tried to rise.

It’s a micro Sand Panther. Happy Birthday.” He reached into the bag again and pulled out a smaller but luxuriously thick towel. “You want to hold him and dry him? I am sure he would be grateful for the assistance.

Ysanne took the towel and used it to two-handedly scoop up the cub and bring it back to her bosom, gushing as excess amniotic fluid splashed across her tunic and up her grinning chin. “Aww, it’s so cute! Does he have a name?”

Not yet, Sweetheart.” Yavinelf looked around to orient himself with the nearest visitors’ chair and stepped back to sit down in it, relaxing and watching his lover coo over her new pet.

She looked up, and across the desk at him, while the sand panther nuzzled at her chin. “Waaiit. Aren’t these things supposed to have poison claws?”

We have pretty good cloning and genetic manipulation facilities on Byss. All that stuff has been removed. I did toy with having the claws tipped with a contraceptive agent, as you have never wanted younglings, as I remember, but Debgate said that would be creepy.

“Well, it’s certainly thinking outside the box.” She gently rubbed the creature’s side through the towel. “How is Deb’?”

Oh, she’s great. Double-dating with her and her captain are one of the three choices for your birthday evening.

Three members of the Surefall Paramedics team in another dimension had come into this one, and somehow gotten separated, building three separate lives.
Debgate, a statuesque blonde woman who dwarfed Isard, had been found already in Imperial service, as the Surgeon-Commander on a Star Destroyer, but the third member, the team’s paramedic scout, was still lost out there somewhere.

“What are the other two options?”

Reservation at a restaurant for just the two of us; or third, we order food to be delivered here, and you coo over your new companion. Doh!” Yav put a hand to his forehead, then leaned over to run a hand through the bag at his feet, coming up with a small ridged plastic bottle with a yellow teat at the top. “I forgot, some milk for the little rascal.

“The third one sounds perfect, Yav’. And thank you very much for my present.” She beamed across the desk at him.

    The End

Awww, a kitten! I accept this as hard proof that all Sith are not completely evil.

Thanks for writing a Sith inquisitor that is capable of feelings, funny and found of animals. I enjoyed my read very much!

Awww. :D The advanced warning system is a neat concept, and seems like just the sort of thing that an intelligence officer of Ysanne Isard's experience and perspicacity might find useful in keeping business separated from pleasure (and it's definitely a good thing Yav was far enough away for her to have some time to prepare properly—an Isard caught by surprise is not an Isard who's safe to be around, for anyone  ). But even a busy intelligence officer can enjoy a cute, cuddly birthday gift (I hope she knows where she'll put the litterbox, though! :p ), as well as a cozy evening in with her beau; they are really kind of cute in their way. :D

While this might be a quite different interpretation of Ysanne Isard as a character, it's nice to see her have a softer side. But even with that, she has a whole set of paranoid measurements around it. Ha! :D

    That was funny!

Thanks for taking part in the OTP Challenge #3. :)

Intersting to see an OS about Isard. Nice to see she has a softer side as well. Loved the idea of her being in a relatioship with a Sith inquisitor.
    A nice OS. :)

Cowgirl! First time I have seen you at one of my shindigs. Welcome, and thank you for reading and commenting. Not just a kitten here, but one that will stay small and manageable when grown, rather than becoming a full-sized Corellian Sand Panther.

Like the dog-scale Micro Pigs that some people can have as pets.

It was my pleasure. I cannot remember when I decided to progress Yavinelf onto being an Inquisitor, but he was my main character when I used to play the iconic Massively Multi-Player Online Roleplaying Game, Everquest.

So I had the character before he took that career path.

Lovely to have you by again, and thank you for reading, and commenting with emojis!

Great to see you reading and commenting, EP. In the context of a selection of actions or precautions, rather than "measurements", you want "measures".

Thank you for pointing out which bit you found funny, so that I know that it worked. :)

Thank you for reading! I am glad the pairing has won a couple of readers over. Outside of roleplay posts, there is not much material for this pairing. Maybe I should hunt some of them down and re-purpose them here.

Ysanne's soft side lasts for as long as Lord Nelf is around. I don't think she wants to disappoint him. Also, she can be soft around him, which counts for a lot.

Thank you again for looking in. :)

I have to echo the above commenters in agreeing that it's nice to see Ysanne with a softer side - well, as soft a side as the Imperial Intelligence Director and a Sith Inquisitor can have, that is. :p Your nods to their more lethal day to day lives (her flippancy with kill orders and understandable caution for red buttons, his thinking a contraceptive agent instead of poison claws would be the way to go o_O :p) really made their lighthearted, loving interaction all the more enjoyable by juxtaposition.

    [face_laugh]

Of course she forgot her birthday. I loved that bit. But, he knew just what to get: a small, cuddly, predator seems to perfectly fit the bill! What a birthday present. [face_love][face_love]

This was a very enjoyable response to the challenge. Well done. :) =D=

Thank you for such a nice review; and good to see you embracing your SW side again.
