Inspired by discussion in other threads, I got to thinking... What if we say Earth was a planet in the Unknown Regions of the galaxy that is allegedly far, far away? Placing it between Rakata Prime, Ilum and Csilla would make sense in terms of our location in the Milky Way. Could we make that work?

What contrived links to Star Wars and the vast tapestry that is EU history could we make? Ancient Egyptian civilisation was founded by the Sith Lords Ra and Anubis fleeing the aftermath of the Great Hyperspace War? A spaceship of Kaminoans crash landed in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947? George Lucas is a Whill who's mentally enslaved every EU author to unwittingly create the Journal of the Whills through their works? :p

Just a fun and very silly thread to retcon as much of real life history and culture as we can (and if you want, anything from other fictional universes, e.g. Firefly, totally a story of a Corellian smuggler who lived after a civil war between the Galactic Alliance and the Confederation...I think I have Sinrebirth to thank for that one?) and attribute it to known elements from Star Wars. ;)

There was a planet mentioned in NJO FH2 Refugee that had 2 nations trying to get to space to get to Zonama Sekot.

Since Star Wars takes place "A long time ago", Earth should be primitive if it exists. If we ignore that and it's 1977 on Earth when the Battle of Yavin occurs, TPM would occur in 1945, AOTC in 1955, ROTS in 1958, ESB in 1980, and ROTJ in 1981.

So the U.S. and USSR knew about Zonama Sekot and this was the primary motivation behind the Space Race? ;)

The current date could be roughly a century after Legacy? That'd satisfy "A long time ago" for the movies and all EU works. Or it can be ignored as a deception perpetuated by Lucas or a misinterpretation of the truth, given that we're throwing out "in a galaxy far, far away."

I'd prefer a millenium. That feels more like "a long time ago" to me.
    Good point.
