Can anyone tell me if there are:

    1. FanFic stories on the Secret Order

    2. A complete list of the ranks from (e.g. First Initiate to Emperor's Reach) Edit:Also pics of the tatoos

Also, has the Secret Order ever made any appearances apart from the Hands?

IIRC, there was mention about this in the TIE fighter game. I can't remember any of the ranks, but I think the ranking designs was some sort of stylized klingon emblem. The triangle thing with spikes type idea.

The Symbols eventually evolve into the Imperial Sigil, the ranks evolve through to the Emperor's Hand and the Emperor's Reach which is higher.

I think they've been tied up with the Prophets of the Darkside from the GODV.

Well, the order of highest official confirmed unlockable ranks are

    First Initiate
    Second Circle
    Third Circle
    Fourth Circle
    Inner Circle
    Emperor's Hand
    Emperor's Eyes
    Emperor's Voice
    Emperor's Reach

Maarek Stele reached Emperor's reach according to his tatoo in gamer #5. Hexadecimal hacking codes, can be found here

There are a couple of possibly non-accessable ranks after that which may be leftover unused code(they have been found in the code, but it hasn't been confirmed if the game can actually access that part of the code), and therefore more like lostworlds than confirmed official ranks. Such ranks as Emperor's Sentinel for instance.

Well, we don't know if they are accessable or not. All we know is that they exist in the game code.

    Following Emperor's Reach:
    Emperor's Envoy
    Emperor's Sentinel
    Emperor's Guardian

Yes, they are in TIE Fighter. All the secondary goals are given by a member of The Secret Order, and if you do well on completing the secondary goals, you get to watch little cut-scene ceremonies where Stele advances in Secret Order rank and gets little symbols drawn on his arm.

Also, The Secret Order has its own Nebulon-B Frigate in TIE Fighter, the Osprey. The Osprey is responsible for rescuing Stele from the ISD Protector in Battle One, Mission One, when it is discovered that Admiral Harkov is a traitor. The Osprey appears again to refuel and rearm Stele, Vader, and the rest of Delta Flight when Grand Admiral Zaarin's treachery is discovered and Stele has to race back to Coruscant in a TIE Defender to rescue the Emperor from Zaarin's coupe attempt.

    I thin

What would be nice is if someone could rip all the cutscene files from the game, and make a program to view them, to see if they finished cutscenes for the ranks after reach(if the cutscenes exist then there is a stronger chance that those ranks are accessable). Besides, It would be fun to watch the cutscenes outside the game, especially the one time only viewable cutscenes such as the promotion scenes.

    Edit:

Ok one can use conman if they find the program to open the LFD files, now finding a program to view .anim files could be a problem.

Well looking through the LFD files there is 9 files marked "Sec". As for what the data on the inside of the files means, or how to make the data viewable I have no idea.

What file did you say you got the mention of the last 3 unconfirmed ranks from?

There was an unconfirmed rumour back when Defender of the Empire was released that there would be a further release, like the B-wing add-on for the original X-wing, but they never completed it. It was supposed to be about TTT.

Thanks to everyone for chipping in, any fanfic you find let me know!

For fanfic I suggest the Fan Fiction board. Asking in the writers lounge and using the search function would be the best way to find stuff.

    thanks.

On the upgraded releases, I find 2 txt files that can be viewed with a normal text browser, one goes up to emperor's hand. The other one only goes up to emperor's reach.

The ones that require word to view them list the other ones.

Now someone who can decompile the pictures or pull out the cutscenes may be able to confirm if any thing in the code actually points to use of that text.

Damn, all this recent talk of those classic games is making me miss them like you wouldn't believe. I wonder if LucasArts still sells them.

[Rant]In fact, it'd be awesome if TIE Fighter and or even X-Wing could be relaunched with a new graphic engine, like Rogue Squadron's or better. All the attention LucasArts is giving to Prequel material and they forget that there are fans who prefer the Classic Trilogy material best. I wonder what we have to do to get a new X-Wing or TIE Fighter game...[/Rant]

Sadly I went to try to install tiefighter collector's edition, and it wouldn't function on XP, the game detects "NT", and says it doesn't work on that type of windows, :(. That doesn't seem to be the only game that won't function in XP, either.

"We have received reports of various issues with our Windows 95/98/ME/2000 game titles from users of Windows XP. All of our original Windows 95/98/ME/2000 titles were developed and tested using only the standard Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, and Windows 2000 operating systems. Currently our only fully tested, Windows XP compatible titles are "Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds," "Star Wars: Starfighter" for the PC, and "Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast."-tech support

Funny you should mention TIE Fighter not working on WinXP.... TF.N's Games page recently had a walkthrough on how to fix that problem and make the game work in XP. I haven't tested it, so I dunno if it works, but the fix is there.

    Link.

It's about 2/3 of the way down the page.

Edit - for the record, Xwing vs TIE Fighter, Balance of Power, and X-wing Alliance all work on XP as well.

Luckily (from a certain point of view, I guess) I haven't upgraded to XP nor do I plan to, so I can enjoy most of the classic and newer games without major hassle. It's a conspiracy by Bill Gates, I'm certain of it, though I'm lacking concrete proof... :p

Well, I had ME, next to ME, XP is a breath of fresh air. Very few crashes(it repairs itself the few times it's happened), much less than I had in 98, and a whole lot less than ME. My work side of things, that kind of stability is a very good thing. My play side of things is a bit sad.

Val: tietext2.lfd can be opened with Notepad. Here's a sample:

You are now the Emperor's Eyes. You are now the Emperor's Voice. You are now the Emperor's Reach. You are now the Emperor's Envoy. You are now the Emperor's Sentinal. You are now the Emperor's Guardian.

Some funny characters were inbetween them, but they were probably headers to the rest of the string.

adm_voss_parck: I can't help you. TIE Fighter's color pallete seems to mess up PrntScr operations, so any screenshots made end up blurry and messed up.

Ah, question here. I have the TIE Fighter game. Been a while since I played it, so I don't recall the highest rank I got, but I think it was the Emperor's Reach, if I got a "pitchfork" tattoo closer to my hand. I don't recall the Envoy, Sentinel, or Guardian. Can I get these ranks in the game?

Jello, I mentioned I found them after using microsoft word, notepad was just giving me gibberish. I still don't think it confirms that they are accessable though.

I too would be interested to know if anyone has compiled the secret order cutscenes together.

I'm not big on games where you can't replay all the cutscenes on offer, but in T/F's case I forgive them because the game is so good.
