Does anyone love this game like I do? My friends and I have been big fans since it came out around Episode 2. I would like to discuss strategies, debate who the best player is, maybe create a deck for Grievous, Ventress, Durge, etc with some help.

Good to hear someone else is as into this G R E A T game as much as me and my friends. Several people I know own a copy since I got one and started playing it and they all *had* to get it. Since then we've made custom decks, boards, and all sorts of stuff. Often, I've gone to some of the online sites for the game, and there is a great Yahoo Club for it with alot of extra material.

I'll post some links in a bit, or feel free to Google. :)

    Best board game ever.

I've bought the Star Wars miniatures figures to replace the crappy ones that come with the game. Good stuff.

That would be cool if they made a new version of it with Episode III, and have Mustafar or Utapua being one of the game boards.

I love this game. I bought it when it first came out and once I introduced my friends to it, we never get together without playing it.

I understand there are people out there who've created custom decks for new characters, made new maps, etc. Anybody done that here? All I've done so far is make variations on the rules.

target-maxfirepower, for a custom Grievous deck, I think I'd model it after the character as seen in the Clone Wars cartoon, the novel "Labyrinth of Evil," and the Ep III videogame (haven't see much else on him except for the movie and I thought he was a bit of a letdown there).

So I'd say he's a red deck (offensive), modified with a power attack card that gives him a ranged attack option. Maybe another power attack card featuring his 4-arm configuration that deals double damage and a special card similar to Mace's "whirlwind attack" for that move he does in the Ep III game and chapter 20 of the cartoon. Give him his droid bodyguards as minors, maybe on par with Super Battle Droids in terms of strength. Making them as strong as the Royal Guard may make it a too powerful combo, I think. If nothing else, it would be a nice change of pace since the minors would be melee fighters instead of shooters.

Those are my thoughts, anyway. Any recommendations for places to find specific SW miniatures to use as new character pawns?

So I'd say he's a red deck (offensive)

Scratch that. Grievous is know to have a good defense, so he'd be better suited for a balanced blue deck. And the MagnaGuards are supposed to be pretty formidable, so they could get bumped up to Strong ++ (like the Royal Guard). There's a Yahoo group I just found that has a Grievous deck in development, I think.

If anyone wants to discuss the game, I'm up for it. I've played every possible variation from "Last Man Standing" to the "Highlander."

I've played a bunch of times as well. Favorite Character? They all have their merits. As a pair: Yoda and Vader.

Hmm, I don't think I've ever tried that particular combo (my friends and I usually stick to light side/dark side). I'll have to give it a shot. Vader always seems to need backup, anyway.

I did once team Yoda up with Mace against Dooku and Maul. Due to a really bad hand, Mace was taken out in the second round, but Yoda managed to mop the floor with them the rest of the game (dealt one beautiful hand after another).

When we play it's usually a couple times and if not in a row, spread out over a sleep-over or what not. We tend to do one game, random characters, LS against DS. But then we just do complete random characters either on teams or free-for-all. I usualy play LS characters more. The reason I like the Yoda-Vader combo is Force Lift and All To Easy. And if you guard Vader with Yoda, while the opponent tries to break through Yoda's defences you just use Throw Debri and Wrath. I love that combo. And if I can't have them, Obi-Wan and someone like Mace, Boba, or Jango make a great team. Obi-Wan can move all of the players into the perfect formation for Flamethrower, Thermal Detonator, or Whirlwind. Another great team is Boba and the Emperor just because they can drain you of your actions and cards.

Epic Duels is so much fun.

Love this one too. Though, did anyone else ban the use of Yoda as a deck choice? hehe

Nope. Yoda's good but not the best. The Emperor can take him, Boba's really good against him, Mual can hold his own, and Obi-Wan can beat him. My friend that has the game has been doing a huge tournament. The first one was 1-on-1 duels with every possible combination. Obi-Wan came out on top, I think he was undefeated. Yoda lost once. I'll have to get his records and post them. Some of the rank placements just didn't seem right so he's doing a best out of 7 (I think). Though, last I heard, that one is even worse. I find that it usually comes down to luck and some knowledge of everyone's deck.

You know, The2ndQuest, a friend of mine keeps saying we should ban him, but that's only 'cuz she'd watched him spank every other character that particular night [face_laugh]

In my experience, the Emperor has the best chance of defeating Yoda in a one-on-one, particularly on the Death Star map. I think Obi-Wan has the best deck, though, with his good defense and offense cards.

Anybody play Vader and end up killing your own stormtroopers in order to heal yourself? I tend to do that alot.

I'm looking forward to putting together some custom decks now that I've seen other people do them. Had Hasbro decided to issue a RotS expansion set, who would you have liked to see included? I would have liked Aayla, Kit, and Grievous decks (which is why I'm working on making them now).

My friends banned him just because a lot of his special cards seemed too cheap (there's one I recall that knocks out/puts to sleep a character that we particularly felt was too easily abused).

It's force lift. There are 2 maybe three in Yoda's deck. You turn a character on their side and they can't attack, defend, or move until any one player discards three cards.

I played a game where my friend didn't have either clone trooper left, used force lift on someone, felt bad and cheap, so he discarded 3 cards and stood him back up. We all laughed and called him an idiot (after we contested his action, turns out it's possible).

As for RotS: GG, R2-D2 and C3-PO, young Lord Vader, and baby Luke and Leia :p

I rarely use Force Lift, sometimes against minors on the off chance that my opponent wont care enough about them to drop three cards. When you're playing against two or more people, it's less valuable since anybody can discard three cards and stand them back up.

As for RotS: GG, R2-D2 and C3-PO, young Lord Vader, and baby Luke and Leia

*speculates on Baby Luke and Leia's special cards*

Diaper Bomb - A10. Opponent loses a turn to wash hands
4AM Feeding - Choose any opponent and turn all their characters on their sides. These characters cannot move, attack, or defend until they've gotten another 3 hours sleep.

Hmm, if I were to make a ROTS expansion, I guess there'd have to be 6 to keep things relatively even (12 default decks, split 5 OT/7 PT, figure 6 average to keep deck chocies an even number), so I would suggest:

-General Grievous & 2 Magna Guards
    -Aayla Secura & Commander Bly
-Bail Organa & Captain Antilles (or maybe Mon Mothma)
    -Commander Cody & 2 Clonetroopers
    -Artoo & Threepio
    -Tarfful & 2 Wookiee Warriors

Figure Anakin, Obi-wan, Palpatine, Vader and Padme have already been done.

And I would throw an Order 66 card into the Emp's deck. :p

4 of us did random characters once: Yoda, Windu, Obi and Emperor. We joked the rest of the time that the Emperor was the undecided winner, because he only had to say the words: Order 66

I forgot to mention that I really like your ideas for the RotS decks, The2ndQuest.

But Vader's defences aren't that good. A lot of health though, especially for a shrivilled up old man covered in 4 degree burns. I know there's only three degrees but a Valcano burn has got to be like 4.
