Episode III teaser poster

I realize this is waaayyy in advance, but what do you think the Episode III teaser poster will look like?

I'm figuring on a shadowy shot of Anakin's face, wearing the same dangerous expression he had in AOTC when he returned to the farm with his mother's remains.
The caption: "The Dark Side..."

It is early, but now that i think about it...
I would say it will be really simple but powerful just like all the others. I would say it will just be anakins face with a serious look kind of glaring up at you with those eyes from the slaughter, maybe half of it light and the other half dark blue (like luke in ROTJ) But yes it is way in advance so we'll just have to wait and see in 2 1/2 years or whatver the date the teaser comes out on.

 

I hope we just see a Vader mask.

I think it will show Anakin with one half of his normal face and the other half the Vader mask...

EDIT: not as the picture above but the face as a whole...so one half Anakin, one half Vader, as a whole face

 

we still don't know if lucas is going to actually show anakin turning into vader, so if he doesn't, i wouldn't want a poster to ruin my children's first experience watching all the star wars, in order.

 

It's not possible to conceal Anakin becoming Vader. For one thing, it's common knowledge. For another, Obi-Wan says Vader was once his apprentice.

 

One more thing too Obi-Ewan. His last name is Skywalker.

Let's face it. That secret was great in 1980 but it's no more. EVERYONE KNOWS IT. It's become part of the pop culture.

 

I have a feeling that the half Anakin face/half Vader mask will be as popular in 2005 as Maul's eyes were in 1999.

 

I do not believe it impossible to conceal anakin turning into vader. i have read very interesting threads concerning this. i will go look for them and return with a link. you may turn in to a believer, also...

 

Well technically it is impossible for me since I already know. Maybe for other people though.

It's a simple assilogism.
Anakin=Obi-Wan's apprentice.

obi-ewan, i can't find the threads, however, lucas could play off one of obi-wan's many lies. obi-wan said vader betrayed and killed anakin.

a short part of the movie could show anakin out of the jedi league, and obi-wan with a new apprentice. with anakin and obi-wan reunited, this new apprentice would reveal he is rooted in the darkside. stuff happens, anakin and new apprentice fall to their death. one figure emerges, walks away, whatever. later scene shows darth vader.

lucas could show vader without revealing that he is anakin. the theory above, while weak and poorly written, could make the next generation of star wars watchers believe that darth vader was obi-wan's padawan, and betrayed and killed luke's father. obi-wan could even tell yoda that anakin looked him in the eye and told him it was his fault for anakin's death. this would further explain vader's hatred of the jedi. i personally would prefer it for lucas to make vader's identity a mystery until ESB. if he does this, our children would be able to watch star wars 1-6. if not, no biggie, they'll watch star wars 4-6, then 1-3 like us

depending on what angle lucas will take will determine what is shown on the poster. regardless of what he does, showing obi-wan vs. vader would be powerful.

 

Maybe you missed the Jedi Council question on the official site. Anakin is Obi-Wan's one and only apprentice. Besides, you're ignoring the most important part of ESB's revelation: before that, not only did we not know that Anakin is Vader, we never knew that Anakin turned to the dark side. The prequels cannot avoid revealing this much. And they are certainly not going to give Obi-Wan a second apprentice just to keep the audience from making the necessary association. The official site has also confirmed the origin of Anakin's injuries: he received them from Obi-Wan. Oh, and maybe you haven't seen the back of the video sleeves.
TPM: "Episode I introduces young Anakin Skywalker, a young boy with special powers, unaware that the journey he is beginning will transform him into the evil Darth Vader."
ROTJ: "The ultimate battle is father against son, as Luke faces Vader one last time."

If it were a simple matter of not overtly telling us Anakin is Vader, that would be one thing. But keeping this secret requires an elaborate deception. There are many signs that point to Anakin being Vader, and to keep his identity a surprise, the audience would have to be deliberately kept from making necessary associations. Creating a second apprentice just to keep Obi-Wan's line from giving it away is a step too far. Lucas isn't going to jump through all these hurdles just to cover the tracks that point to Anakin and Vader being the same.

 

I think a DV shadow or silloutte would be fine but we have that in TPM's teaser so maybe the two hands on the saber with a red blade on it says it all? Background would be outer space. Yeah, that would work...until we have a teaser banner.

 

Oh yes, that's something else. Surely we all remember Episode I's teaser poster, in which Anakin Skywalker casts the shadow of Darth Vader? Also, the Imperial March is also known as Darth Vader's theme. Why do we hear that playing when Anakin is around? Both when Obi-Wan meets with Yoda at the end of TPM, and in AOTC when he admits to killing the sandpeople.

 

Yeah, I don't think it's possible to conceal it now.

 

I hope it's a picture of anakin riding a flying bike with yoda in the front basket in front of the moon like the ET picture.

That 2nd pic you posted MadMardigan is awesome. Where did you find it. That would be cool if that was the teaser poster.

 

And this is exactly why, when I have kids, they will watch the OT before they ever see the PT.

 

Well the poster will definetly have Anakin on the cover.

The Phantom Menace one had Anakin with the shadow of Vader.

The Attack of the Clones one had Anakin, Padme, and a Red Lightsaber.

So Anakin is a 100% locked in for the third one. But how will he be shown? I'd have to say the OT vader will be shown on it. Perhaps it will be a poster that goes from left to right.

First showing Little Anakin. Then Teenage Anakin. Then Vader.

 

I saw that second poster on T.F.N fan art Pages,and it's very similar to how i think the actual poster will be.

Very good poster ideas, but I'd suggest one alteration to the first one. Instead of bare hands holding the 'saber, how about if they're covered by black gloves like the ones Vader wore. It'd make a great counterpoint to the original ROTJ release poster.

 

back when Episode 1 came out I called that it would be something like, a half anakin face blended into Vader's mask.

If any of you have the Episode 1 insider's guide...its on there, but with Jack Lloyd's face into Darth....its the coolest pic...The epi 3 poster I think will be similar accept with Hayden's.
