Please read this before posting or trying to move this to the games forum. This is not about the actual game since i have never nor do i ever intend on playing it. It is about them including a bunch of seemingly random Eu characters in the game. What are your thoughts on Disney using some pretty obscure Eu characters such as the guy on my profile pic Spiker and others in the game. Does this make the characters canon? I understand the game is just a silly non canon spinoff of another mobile game. But why would they use these characters in particular? What are your thoughts on this? Spiker
Because the game requires a huge amount of characters to incentivize long-term play. I doubt Chee's made any official statements, but there's nothing to be gleaned about canon from it IMO.
I just looked again at the character list and there are only a few Eu characters even included in the game and most of them for some reason happen to be Chiss. Doesn't anyone else find that a little weird?
The day I learned Tiny Death Star had a tiny pixelated tiny Death Star gym like the one Motti frequented in the Death Star novel I gave a tiny cheer and hoped a tiny bit that that would be in the new canon. tiny gym -- all it needs is a tiny pixelated Motti So yeah I dunno how much will be canon but we can hope, right?
Of all games, why would Tiny Death Star be canon? It's a game about Palpatine trying to attract people on the Death Star and let them build shops and restaurants there!
That's because the Chiss are even more overrated because of a single member of their race than the Mandalorians. Mainly because Thrawn is actually cool but Boba Fett isn't.
I'm not saying that the game is canon i know it isn't. It's the fact that they had plenty of characters to draw from the movies but instead choose to use some really obscure Eu characters. I'm hoping that means they will use some of these characters in the new Eu.
Makes me think of Memah Roothes in the Death Star novel: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Memah_Roothes
I spent a bit of time earlier this year playing this game to try to add all of the EU references to the Wook. There were a surprising number. I think I (or others) got most of them in the appearances section: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Tiny_Death_Star#Appearances Quite a few made me smile, including a pixelated MK-series maintenance droid and giant old-school construction droid working on Death Star construction, meatlump, the medicine shop from the Holiday Special, mulch mold, ice mushroom (omg Yoda Stories reference!), some super-obscure things from WEG, and the aforementioned reference to the Death Star novel (one of several, IIRC). The abundance of Chiss characters is odd. I have no good explanation, other than that I know there was an update that added a bunch of Wookiee and Chiss characters to the game. I believe they were going to do themed updates to the game, but there haven't been any updates in a while... However, 1) this game was released before the Great Canon Resynchronization, and 2) it's quite clearly not intended to be canon. So... I think the inclusion of EU characters and stuff says more about the passion of the game developers (or their advisor) than it does about anything related to canon.
The Death Star was a housing project for many of the galaxy's citizens who lost their dwellings during the Clone Wars. The Separatist-Rebels quickly put a stop to that, of course. Thankfully, the Emperor was full of mercy for his subjects and invited them to live on his private world of Byss after that disaster.
You make it sound so... pleasant. I'd almost want to live there or on the obviously wonderful dark side world Byss. I can see it now, me opening up a shop on the Death Star and serving the Stormtroopers. I will say that Rogue_Follower's fix is an improvement; that increases the appeal.
If you think "post-Clone Wars housing project" sounds pleasant you must not have read A New Dawn yet.
I like to think there was an archipelago shaped like Palpatine's face on Byss. Kind of like this: And that on every barber shop, mini market etc on the Death Star, there were Kim Il-Sung-style portraits of him, complete with shining smile: As long as those things can be true, I don't care about Spiker.
Apparently Disney just pulled the plug on this game... without even telling the developers that made it. Hm.
