EU Fans, I know you remember Shannon Mcrandle (AKA Shannon Baksa)

For those who don't know, she is the model who posed as Mara Jade for many many Star Wars trading cards and merchandise in the 2000's and 2010's. Many have met her at cons and she is truly a wonderful person.

Unfortunately, she had had cancer and an autoimmune disease called ankylosing spondylitis. Both are terrible diseases and have left her in a lot of pain and partially disabled. Conventional treatments are not helping and she wants to try eastern medicine, but it is not covered by insurance. Therefore, she has a GoFundMe page up. I don't know if it will let me post the link here, I think it is against the rules. But the family could very much use the help. It is an Armed Forces family, the husband is away on deployment a lot, and both boys have AS as well.

We can't update the main TFN page. However there is an email address there for news and questions. If you click on 'Contact' in the header you'll see the list. You can submit your request there. Just a note that the front page is pretty busy with Celebration and Rogue One DVD news at this time.

 

Thanks for sharing this, LLL. Shannon brought Mara Jade to life in such an iconic way. I'm very sorry to read about the painful conditions she's been enduring. Reading her story on the GoFundMe page, I really admire her strength. Anyway, I'd certainly like to contribute.

 

There's an update on her fundraising on TFN Main - looks like she only needs around $800 to get there.
