    Hey there,

I have a question for all the costume gurus out there.

I'm part of the Fighting 501st. I have a blast gearing up as Darth Vader, and posing with the little Dark Side wannabes! However, my wife isn't into costuming at all. She says the only way she would do it, is if she had an Ewok costume. Now, being a bad guy, I was not immpressed, but to each their own.
Now for my question...does anyone know anyone who could hook my wife up with an accurate looking custom Ewok costume? She would like to find one with a close color pattern to the girl Ewok in the Ewok cartoon. I'm not sure what her name is.
Any help would be outstanding!! Thanks so much in advance!!

    Elijah

You know there's a Don Post Wicket mask. It's not the most accurate thing ever, but it isn't the worst mask I've ever seen. This is a pic, but it doesn't look quite this good in person:

Other than that, it's just a padded suit with rubber hands and feet.

    Btw, how tall is she?

I recently saw photos from a local guy here in Portland, Oregon that used the Don post mask as a base for an ewok head that really looks amazing.

That's actually really impressive. I can't see what the hands and feet look like though. If the hands and feet are right, it could pass for a real Ewok!

It was his real, human fingers sticking out of the suit arms. The only pic that shows the feet are in the house, and I see black socks, so I don't know if it has accurate feet, but it does not have accurate hands. It doesn't have the proper stubby fingers. :p

The rest is quite impressive, however. Especially what he did with the mask.

I wonder how long it's gonna take his kid to grow out of it, and what he's going to do with the costume when he does?

That's cool, except for the hands and feet. The spear looked great, too. I'd say get some ape hands and feet and you could make that awesome!

How would ape hands make it more awsome? They are not accurate, either. Go back and watch ROTJ and see how stubby the fingers are on those costumes. The look nothing like ape hands.

I realize that a lot of little people have short, stubby fingers, but I know Warwick has normal sized hands and fingers.

Yeah, Ewoks have 3 digits on each hand and foot. Looking at the pics again it looks like they at least made it so his thumb, index, and middle fingers were the only ones showing, which is kind of a clever budget solution, but it does look a little odd that they're not short and stubby. There might actually be costume gloves out there with 2 fingers and a thumb but I don't recall seeing one in person. Of course my answer would be to make them from scratch! lol

Also, If I were to be REALLY critical, I would say it needs more decoration on the hood. Even the youngest Ewoks have at least a few feathers, rocks, bones, or beads dangling from their hood. Other Ewoks had really elaborate decoration. Of course that's just me being SUPER picky. lol

EDIT: Check out these Yoda hands (They're officially licensed, mods!) If you cut the claws down to fingernails, with a new paintjob and some matching fur, these would do the trick, dontcha think? Or are they not stubby enough, Loreen? [face_laugh]

Many moons ago, a friend costumed as an Ewok. She took her "Lumpy" costume (you remember the "Holiday Special", you know the one Lucas wishes would disappear off of the face of the earth) and added a hood for the Ewok and it worked out great.

I made the base for that costume which was a fur jumpsuit that had a bit of a tummy to it, shoe covers in fur and gloves. Another friend actually did a foam latex and fur head fit for her only. Someone else made the Ewok headgear.

I have a friend whose roommate is a midget who loves Star Wars and wants an Ewok costume. That's really the end of the story, but I just thought I'd share. :D

I kinda though ape hands were a stretch. I didn't realize they had only two fingers/ thumb, so yeah, Yoda hands would be good.

That customized job is good!! Like most have said the human hands sticking out detracts from the costume... but I love the costumizing.... definitely my cup of tea.......

It appears as if this person made everything from scratch save the Don Post mask which was then customized.... my suggestion would be to do what that person did ... looks like they got a pattern for a bear costume??? keeping in mind the 3 fingered thing.... Yoda hands may work....

VFF We need to talk man, As you know, my wife shares your wifes opinion, and I have been researching this a bit. What I have found is that Ewoks (Like Wookies) are kinda hard to make, or at least the Head is kinda hard, the rest is rather easy, we just need to find a fur we like.
