Hmmm...coincidence or not? Around the time the Ewoks were popular, there were was another franchise made up of cute, teddy bear-like creatures. You know who I'm talking about. Those ursine, technicolor balls of fur... The Care Bears! What are the odds that Care Bears and Ewoks were both so popular and came out so closely together? Do you all think that Lucas originally wanted to cash in on the Care Bears and maybe lobbied American Greetings to slip them in his latest Star Wars moive? The card makers turned him down, and frustrated, Lucas resorted to his own version. But imagine what could have been. The Care Bears dive-bombing the stormtroopers in their Cloud Car. The rebels partying down in Care-a-Lot at the end. The Care Bears using the 'Care Bear Stare' on those mean Imperials. The Imperials then seeing the error of their ways and having a tea party or something else nice. Grumpy Bear and Chewie brawling. Funshine Bear trying to cheer up that grumpy Han Solo. R2-D2 shocking a Care Bear in the butt. Oh, the missed opportunities...
Of course, the rainbow-hued Care Bears don't beat you to death with rocks and pointed sticks...or try to eat you because they think 'The God' would like it
Personally...I think if it had been the Care Bears guarding that shield bunker...the rebels and the Ewoks would have been in for some pain! We saw plenty of Ewoks bite it...but can anyone here say they honestly ever saw a Care Bear die? I didn't think so!
