Hope this has not been asked before - but, any way to listen to KOTOR 2 music WITHOUT having to go into the game. Pretty annoying if i just want to open my folder which has all my SW songs.
Lets not discuss downloading the OST in mp3 format. There was a site out there that was midi's that someone extracted from the game. And it was legit or something like that. Or so I remember (because a mod gave me the link to it a long time ago)
My next suggestion would be to ask in the KotOR threads. I know that at least alpha_red can send you any track you want.

Some time after they put the KotOR 2 soundtrack up there, LucasArts e-mailed them asking if they could remove the Star Wars and Indy content, so it's not obtainable anymore.
I remember it, downloaded a few. It was removed last year. The site owner doesn't want private requests for content either too. These game tracks come with spyware. I'd like to for curiosity where it comes from, and how? If I was to make a web page with imagery and download some, would I get adware too?
You can use the Miles Sound Tools (google them) to read the music files from your HDD, convert to WAV then encode to MP3.
Ok I've got the Miles thing, and I can listen to the music. Yet when I try to 'decompress' the files so I dont need Miles, then it says to choose the WAV filename to decompress into. Well I just click save and nothing happens, it just closes. How exactly can I go about decompressing them properly?
That's exactly what I do, and it works (the extraction process is extremely quick, no dialog box or anything). Did you try selecting a new folder and trying to save into that (to see if the file shows up)?
Wow thanks for attempting to help! That makes a change - finally a nice guy Yup tried. Here's exactly what I do: Select one of the music files. Click decompress. Choose save destination. Ive tried so many times and nothin has happened. Seems to be a problem I cant solve, though Im thinking of another way to get the sounds working. Any way of turning WAV files into MP3s? I think the process might help. Im not a professional on music on the computer so excuse my question
It's very easy to turn WAVs into MP3s using some program like CDex (which is what I use, it's very good). However since these WAVs are compressed already it may not work. I seem to remember that simply renaming them to MP3 might make them work but I'm not sure about that.
Ok MP3 thing solved thanks Still, I sadly cant figure out about the Miles thing I even tried compressing simple files, to no avail. Both buttons dont work it seems. Could it be the software itself or is it some other problem you think? Or else, is there any other program or something that could decompress them?
Those files were created with the Miles Sound Tools, and I've never heard any other program referenced in relation to opening them. I really can't understand your problem unfortunately, it's very strange.
I see, thanks You've been a huge help, and at least the MP3 part is solved Well, one final question. Could it be the software itself I downloaded was somehow corrupted? What version do you have?
I cant thank you enough! Checked out the web, simply updated Miles and it worked. My version must have been flawed! Youve been an amazing help, thank you so much!
