    Face of the Franchise.

ESPN did a Face of the Franchise for baseball. But what about the other sports out there. Who is the face of the franchise in the teams or sports that you watch or support.

    Mine are as follows:

St. Louis Cardinals - Albert Pujols
St. Louis Rams - Steven Jackson
St. Louis Blues - Doug Weight
    Miami Heat - Dwayne Wade
    Nascar - Dale Earnhardt Jr.

lol @ Steven Jackson being the face of the Rams while Bulger, Holt and Bruce are still playing

    here are my teams:

Green Bay Packers - Brett Favre(might be the most obvious choice ever)
Arizona Cardinals - Matt Leinart(this was a tough one, none of the good players have really been here too long)
    Phoenix Suns - Steve Nash
    Arizona Diamondbacks - Brandon Webb

New York Mets: Jose Reyes (this was a tough one because David Wright makes a strong case, but Reyes is a more electrifying player)
New York Jets: Chad Pennington (he's the QB, so this was easy)
New Jersey Nets: Jason Kidd (another slam dunk)
New York Rangers: Jaromir Jagr (not as important as Henrik Lundvquist, but Jagr is a world famous player)

New York Yankees: Derek Jeter (hey, he's the captain, what else can you say about him?)

New Jersey Devils: Martain Brodeur (While he's not a real leader, he's the only one that is giving the most effort. This was hard; there really isn't anyone else at the moment who has stepped up as a true leader of this team. There are some sparks; but a fire hasn't been lit yet. Elias is getting there; but he needs to prove his worth as captain. Yes, he's respected in the locker room, but I'm not seeing his leadership ability on the ice).

yeah, I saw the Mets-Dodgers game today, and holy crap... watching Jose Reyes on the bases has gotta be the funnest thing to watch in baseball. You better consider it a privilege to be able to watch all his games on tv. :p

It's true, but like a lot of things, I sometimes take Jose's skills for granted.

BTW, in a few years' time, Justin Upton should become the face of the Dbacks.

Some of the ones for my teams are easy, and another would have been easy a year ago:

Cleveland Cavs: LeBron James. (There might be no easier choice in all of sports)
Cleveland Indians: Grady Sizemore. (Edges out C. C. Sabathia)
Colorado Avalanche: Joe Sakic. (Not real hard here, either)
Pittsburgh Steelers: Hines Ward. (I would go with Ben Roethlisberger, but he's so young in his tenure. Would have gone with Bill Cowher a year ago, and Jerome Bettis the year before that)

But the QB is the greatest glamour position in all of sport, Integral. Hines Ward is well known, but by default Roethlisberger gets more press.

Yes, the QB is the glamor position. But for a smashmouth team like the Steelers, I give the nod to Ward because he's known as the blocking WR. He's the guy most likely to lay you out just because he can. Plus, he was the MVP of Super Bowl XL.

    Here are mine...

    Los Angeles Lakers: Kobe Bryant

    San Diego Chargers: LaDainian Tomlinson

    Both no-brainers.

Adelaide Crows: Mark Ricciuto, but he's about to retire so probably Andrew McLeod next year. Maybe Simon Goodwin.
SA Redbacks: With Lehmann gone I suppose it's Shaun Tait. This team is quite anonymous though :(
    Adelaide 36ers: Easily Brett Maher.

If we're restricting it to players, I'd probably still have to give the nod to Smoltz over Chipper, though it would be a close one. If not, I'd have to say Bobby Cox, edging out Schuerholz.

I'd agree with you that Bobby Cox is the face of the Braves. More so than any player.

I'd have to go with Steve Smith and/or Julius Peppers ahead of Jake. I might've given it to Jake about 3 or 4 years ago.

If this is going beyond the current players and/or coaches then:

    Washington Redskins: Joe Gibbs.
    Miami Heat: Shaq
Chicago Bulls: Michael Jordan (Even a decade after his retirement)
    Chicago Cubs: Bartman *ducks*
    Indianapolis Colts: Peyton Manning
    UFC: Ken Shamrock/Randy Cuoture

Philadelphia Phillies: Ryan Howard and Chase Utley
Philadelphia 76ers: who the hell knows, this team is majorly talent deprived, if push comes to shove, I would go with Andre Iguodola (a good, solid player, but not a superstar to build a team around)
    Philadelphia Flyers: Daniel Briere

Reyes is the best player on the Mets and yet Wright is the face of the team because he is white.
There is no hiding that dark secret.
But Reyes is still the 3rd face of the Mets after white LoDuca :p

He hasn't played a game for them yet! You are not hard to please ;)
I would have chosen Simon Gagné

They brought in Briere (and paid him the money that they are paying him) to be the next franchise player. Personally, I think they overpaid for him, but we'll see.

HIGHLY overpaid. He doesn't deserve that much. The Flyers are destroying the fragile credibility the NHL gained after the lock-out.

If we're talking historically, I'd put Bobby Clarke (and others) way above Lindros. :p
