Since I hate to see a good thread get side-tracked, It seemed fair to move the debate over some of Sci-Fi channels recent decisions to another place.

Farscape: Everyone knows I love that show, and like many fans around the world...was upset by not only the decision by Sci-Fi to cancell...but the ending to the series finale seemed like the last slap in the face. For those of you who don't follow ther series...Farscape summary will give you the basic idea of why I'm so outraged.

This was the "flag-ship" of the Sci-Fi channel's original programming. Possibly one of the best written television shows (on any network) with excellant acting, and groundbreaking work by Jim Henson productions (including CGI work to rival ILM). To say they couldn't finish the series' final 5th year because of "production costs" is ridiculous, because while the shows ratings may have slowly started to decline...it still was the most profitable venture Sci-Fi Channel has done.

    Dune and Children of Dune
Again, when a cable network invests their money and productions efforts wisely, they can create some excellant television. Not only did they manage to translate 2 of the most popular books in all sci-fi to the small screen...but they managed to draw some serious stars like Susan Sarandon (Children of Dune) and William Hurt (Dune)

    Scare Tactics
Oh my gosh...not only is the biggest B#### (since The Queen Alien from "Aliens") remind us of why nobody likes her, by being the host that laughs at people's fears (like some kind of twisted high school brat)...but their cliam to fame (already) is that they're being sued by a girl from one of their stunts. And to add insult to injury, they use the footage of her freaking out in EVERY promo. You know how THIS show is going to end...in true Sci-Fi manner, Sigorney Weaver is going to come out in an exo-suit and say: "Go away you B####!

I'm afraid of what they're going to do with Battlestar Galactica scheduled to be a mini-series this December. I'm trying to sta optimistic...but recent events lead me to believe the executives at Sci-Fi channel have lost their minds.

All I have to say is... if you want to talk about "slap in the face" series finales, all I need to say is "X-FILES." Truly a great series in its own right, but the final episode was LAME. There were so many questions the show asked that were left unanswered. Boo final X-Files. Boo.

Tremors looks like a cute show, I don't know if it has enough for an entire series..."monsters underground, mosters eat people, monsters come back someday" It's a cult classic film (with sequels?) that the fun will wear off like "Dirty Dancing: the series"

I can't stand Scare Tactics. Just the commercials scare me. I did love Children of Dune thought some parts made me feel like they hadn't spent much time or money on it. Plus most of the shows Sci-Fi channel should are old...why destroy a very good one like Farscape! I just got into it!!!

Dang Krash you were right, that ending blows chunks. I never really got into the series because I was always too busy to sit down and watch it. I tried to get into the first season but it just looked too Muppets to me but the later seasons the visuals improved 100X. I caught a few episodes and they were very well written and it definitely was a great series. May it rest in peace.

Stargate SG1 is a good show, another example of a show that got saved from cancellation (Showtime originally produced). Plus, I have always liked Richard Dean Anderson (McGyver was one of my favorite shows as a kid) as Col. Jack O'Neil.

They used to really play up the fact that Farscape and SG1 (their 2 best shows) were part of that "Friday Prime" block of programming. Aside from that (maybe Tremors) I don't know what they have to take pride in.
