Wall-E but the epiphany scene in Soul is absolutely amazing. I argue that's the better montage over Up.
I went w Ratatouille. Although Incredibles and Up are close seconds. I saw Up a week after my dad died. Went int thinking "gee I'll see a nice Pixar movie to get some levity". I was almost crying the theater watching the opening montage. Good stuff. That said, it will never be any movie done in this style ... I don't even think the ones done in this style are really bad, per se, (my kids sure as hell watch them enough) I just find them visually weird/boring, and I don't like looking at them for more than a minute.
It really is unconscionable that you were forced to read this thread. But I guess with the thread title it must've really tricked you reading it.
So, objectively Cars is not the correct answer, but to me, somebody who grew up as an obsessive NASCAR fan and caught every single reference, it was the greatest thing ever.
I'm impressed with how many horror movie references make it into the Toy Story franchise, I'll give it that
I gave it to Finding Nemo and Cars. I would've put Wreck-it Ralph as my #1 but I guess it wasn't a Pixar film.
The opening of Up wrecks me every time. The rest of the story is fine, but can't compare to the start.
I remember being in the theather for Up, and how I never saw so many people cry in a theater than in the first ten minutes of that film. Say what you will about Pixar later, but they really knew what they were doing back then. (I didn't choose Up as a favorite because I found the second half to be too slap-sticky and the pacing odd, but I still think it was among Pixar's better films)
