Has anyone got any ideas on how I could make some female smuggler style costumes. They need to be preaty cheap as I need to make quite a few. Things made from real clothes would be helpfull.

    I did one last year.

What I did was to buy some brown cargo pants on sale at Old Navy, then bought a couple of cheap men's dress shirts at Walmart. I cut off the collars and made two bibs from an old sheet and set snaps on them. I dyed one shirt tan and left the other white. I wear my black leather jacket with the outfit.

I spent the most money on the belt and holster rig that I custom made in black dyed leather. Sort of a more feminine version of the Han Solo rig.

Unforturnately, I gave a friend my DL44 toy blaster from Disneyland to repaint for me, at his instistance, and now he's MIA. So I don't really have a costume without a blaster. :(

Here are a few pics of my rig, I don't have any of the whole costume yet.

You also might want to check out some old SW RPG sources. The character Platt Okeefe is an excellent example of a female smuggler. Pictures of her can be found in a number of sourcebooks by West END Games from when they had the RPG license. One book in particular is titled Platt's Starport Guide and has some excellent shots of her.

Thick heavy belts can be helpful, as can some tougher belt pouches--which can be had for ~$5-$20 on ebay. "Swat team belt" pouch set can be cool.

For the rest, depends how "feminine" you want to be. Loose tunic & tight boots, pants can do. Vests can help. Traditional nautical pirate wear.

Mens shirts can help go the other "more masculine" way. Maybe a sash or bandalier to hide the button line.
