Do you guys think Finn will have a big role in the next episode? His seemed to be one big surprise but it looks like nobody even considers his role. Its almost like its non-existent. His role actually had me thinking the most. It was cool that a storm trooper defied the first order and the awesome rescue and him holding his own at the end against Kylo for a bit. Do you guys think that his role was not very well developed and could be cut out or will he play a bigger role in episode nine?

He is a co lead. Johan boyega said, his role is going more physical for the next eps and he 'll have to go back to gym. stop scaring yourself. Finn is safe.

Two things i would love to see next for Finn are.

    1. He gets Bionic Implants because of his injuries, wich make him some kind of Superhuman/Soldier.
2.He will be trained to be a Jedi.

He's right there with Daisy in all the press tours and marketing, he's a lead lol. LF is aware of peoples expectations of the character, it's all part of the plan. And yeah physical training means his role will be increased, if anything.

I would like to see more Finn and Poe. It would be cool seeing Finn and Kylo face off without Rey but then again, I don't think he would be able to survive because Kylo has that whole force thing going.

I think Kylo Ren already knows Finn is force sensitive.

Oh and to the OP, Finn is the co-star of the ST. I don't know how one concludes based on everything we know he has no role going forward.

I hope he won't have bionic implants. A big scar yes of course. he and kylo ren will have a scar matching :) . rey slashed kylo ren in the torso and the face, kylo ren slashed finn in the back and neck.

Those injuries that Finn suffered at the hands of Kylo Ren were quite severe, which means that there's a strong chance of him being fitted with bionic implants a la Terminator... And becoming a stronger, more physical warrior for the Resistance, who's good with both weapons and hand-to-hand combat although he's nowhere closer to being a Force-sensistive individual, unfortunately...

not sure a spinal implants, you will never see under clothes, will make toys sale. Unless Finn will be torso naked all movie.

And he is FS to my opinion ;)

What is your premise that he is force sensitive? I got no indication that he was or was not. That is one that I can honestly say, I have no idea. How did he escape the training of the first order and are there more? Kylo Ren looks at him in the battle of Jakku and why does he focus only on him during all that caos?

you have an entire topic dedicated to it. My post was there

I'll add that I' m not watching star wars to see bionic warriors, so Finn becoming one = lame for me

Am I the only one that doesn't want Finn to be a Jedi? We'll have Rey and Luke (and maybe others) therefore I think it's good for the balance of the films if there are different type characters. I think Finn has his own arc and he doesn't need to be FS.

I'm not sure what to expect from the character of Finn in VIII, after he finished TFA in coma. The character developed in TFA ended with Finn defecting. Maybe Rian has some ideas.

Cage match with Phasma. Plenty of bad blood there. [face_skull]

Looks like to me they could go with 2 basic matchups:

    Luke/Rey vs Snoke/Ren
    Leia/Poe/Finn vs Hux/Phasma

He is a Big Deal. He's one of the leads. We'll see lots of him. FWIW, John Boyega has posted that he is working out intensely with a trainer and expects his part in VIII to be very physical.
